Our starter medic decided to get grounded and can't play tonight. Our sub medic is also poor and can't pay his league fee.
Can anybody help with his fee? His paypal.me is https://www.paypal.me/nsadler540
This is also his first season in ESEA, and I may make him the starter med if our current guy can't get his grades up. Not even kidding...
Thanks guys.
crackbabydumpsterIf you actually want to go anywhere you should drop everything and do whatever it takes to pull this event off smoothly. If it's in August you're competing with insomnia, with how mismanaged it was this year (as an NA player trying to attend) if you could have stuff set up months in advance it would be a really great event (and easier for international teams to get to) and it would show people you can actually run events and that it's worth supporting you in the long run
my 2cents
Yeah, I'm definitely putting everything I've got into UberJam. A lot of planning has gone into it already, but it's not even close to being fully planned out. I mean, aside from absolute basics, I've mostly been inquiring into things for the last couple of months. I've been calling and talking to people I know that have experience with this stuff, as quite frankly, I have zero experience with hosting events like this. Thankfully my family is pretty awesome, and they're helping me with the event planning. They also have connections, and are giving me access to a ton of helpful resources to hopefully make things go as smoothly as possible.
Right now, my main concern is the budget. I'm setting a goal of $20K, which given the location and venue in mind, is definitely a realistic goal. It's just a matter of getting the initial reservation stuff going, which is what I hope the t-shirt fundraiser can help with. If I need to pay out of my own pocket, I shouldn't be hosting an event like this at all. So ideally, I want to make the event pay for itself through fundraisers, advertisers, and sponsors.
Honestly, I've got a long ways to go, and while August might appear to be far off to most people, it really isn't when it comes to events. I just want this to be done right, and I want TF2 to have an actual LAN year after year, supported by an actual league.
I'm also trying to make travel to and from the venue cheaper. I've been toying with the idea of hosting a custom 6v6 tournament in TFCL, where the winning team gets free travel to UberJam. I'd host one tournament per region, or as many as I can fit into the overall budget. Not sure how this would work out though, or if it's even a good idea. Kinda depends on the budget.
I'm also looking into the possibility of having discounted travel via Uber from the venue to the hotel. Haven't reached out to them quite yet, but with a name like UberJam, Uber would be the perfect sponsor to have.
As a Toronto Blue Jays fan (rip), I'm rooting for the Indians. We traded Edwin Encarnacion to them last season, and a lot of people from Toronto still consider him a Jay at heart. So yeah, Go Indians!
Alright, so now that 2017 is nearly over, I want to clear up some confusion on the 2017 "LAN" we were going to be hosting.
1. The "TLAN" wasn't actually hosted by TFCL, but rather TFCL would end up powering the management side of things, so that Hidi (that actual host and organizer) could focus more on running it. TFCL would collect the fees, organize teams, and just make everything easier for Hidi, so she can do her thing. TFCL would even provide graphic design for TLAN, and create nametags, and bring in sponsors for the event. Ya know, so Hidi can focus on the actual organizing stuff, while I do the backend stuff.
Unfortunately, there were some issues with securing a venue, and I had to drop my support out of the event. I don't know how much I'm allowed to share, as some of it was fairly personal if I remember correctly. Though, I definitely hope to work with her again in the future, and help make TLAN a reality for her. However, even if I do end up supporting TLAN again, it'll only be as a "powered by" thing, not a "hosted by".
2. In regards to the actual TFCL 2018 LAN? Yes, it is still happening. I have a specific venue in mind, and want to make this LAN an international event for pretty much everybody that loves TF2. The current "ETA" is August 2018, and the venue in mind is located in Mississauga Ontario, Canada. It's near the Pearson International Airport, making for easy travel. I'm sure a few of you know which venue I'm talking about, though I won't name it right now just in case I can't secure a reservation for August 2018.
The LAN will be called UberJam 2018, and I'm hoping to make it just as big if not bigger than any other LAN in recent history. I know I (prematurely) announced a $20k prize pool over on Twitter, which as of right now is both accurate and inaccurate. I'm aiming for a $20k budget, not pool. So there won't be a $20k prize to be won. This might also completely change, and depends on how many sponsors and advertisers I can get on board in time for the LAN. I will also be doing a fundraiser (t-shirts) this winter to help fund everything, which was suggested by a close friend of mine, who is also going to be coming up with the design. I believe the design theme was "I Supported TF2 LAN", or something like that.
Anyway, that's about it for now, as far as LAN news goes.
Finally, I wanted to quickly get some community feedback on prize pools. As of right now, TFCL can host 6v6 at a similar pool level to ESEA Invite, but I'm not sure if I should actually do that. I want ESEA to strengthen its TF2 league, so a $4K pool in TFCL doesn't somehow rival ESEA's Invite pool. I honestly do not want ESEA to die, and I feel like if I were to launch a $4K pool in TFCL, I could end up really harming ESEA's TF2 league, which isn't my intention at all. Though, what do you guys think? Is it wise for me to introduce larger pools into TFCL, or do you think that will come with too many risks?
hooliwhat's the website and how much?
As said, the price is totally up for negotiation. So give me a reasonable quote, and we can move forward from there.
The site is psxextreme.com
I'll send more project details in a PM. Though in short, we need to take the article content and convert it to a WordPress compatible database. My partner has code examples I believe which I can send in PM if needed.
Given the schedule, are you open to joining a team as a sub?
Just wanted to clarify that this is a paid job. Rates are open to negotiation after I send project details, just to make sure you're able to do what I require. There is a deadline involved with this, so I expect a relatively quick return.
The website in question is a very old gaming news site that was created in 1999. The site is too old to properly maintain, so we need to move it over to a more modern platform, specifically WordPress. So if you think you're able to do this, send me a PM. I am in a bit of a hurry though. Really hoping that somebody from TFTV can help out, as I know people here are talented, and also in need of money. So figured I'd post this offer here first and hope for the best.
Two great horror games. I prefer the originals over Outlast 2. They have a more claustrophobic horror vibe, which is perfect imo.
Well, I'm playing pocket this season for the first time ever. So, watch out guys! You'll all get beat by Taylor Swift!
Found a potential fix.
Spamming the living crap out of the online/offline button on the mobile app seems to reset something, and allow me to go offline... for a bit at least. It pops me back online a short while later, and then seemingly puts me offline again 30 or so minutes after that.
So, I guess the solution is to get angry and spam?
To recreate this issue, sign in on a Windows 10 computer and on an Android phone using the latest app version. Talk with people on both PC and Mobile, and then sign out of your PC. Wait a few minutes, and do the same on mobile. Fair warning though, doing this will almost certainly bug your account. Recommend using an alt if you have one handy. Also, Steam Guard needs to be enabled.
This seems to basically bug your account so you're always online, but set to away. I experienced this shit in the past, but managed to find a fix by forcing Steam to sign me out on all devices. This time around, that isn't working. It keeps telling me that I'm already signed out, even though I'm still appearing as away.
I've contacted Steam support, and should hear back within the next year or two. However, was hoping somebody else on here had a quicker solution? Any messages I receive when "offline" are apparently lost in the ether, as I never get them. So this is a huge inconvenience.
What I've Tried
I've sign out of all of my devices, and powered them down completely.
I've cleared app cache and force quit.
I've uninstalled Steam on mobile. Even with Steam totally uninstalled, it still shows me as online.
Reinstalled. Same issue.
Help?

Hey guys. I'm looking for a developer to write a custom tool to help automate a website transfer from classic asp to WordPress. If you're interested in this, send me a PM on here and I'll forward the project details to you.
Oh, and this isn't related to TFCL. Though if you're interested in developing stuff for TFCL as well, I'd love to bring you on board.
Thanks
All_Over_RSits also on humble
I updated the OP with links to the Humble and Steam version. Humble seems to just be the steam copy though, so for anyone that wants to give this game a try, you can install it directly from Steam itself.
I personally suggest getting it on GOG, just so you get a DRM free copy. But nothing's stopping ya from getting both.
Didn't see anything posted about this, so here ya go. Game's super fun. Definite classic from my childhood.
