#155 Announcing RGL.gg Sixes - Season 1 in TF2 General Discussion

I hate to sound pessimistic cause its not in my nature but I feel the TF2 competitive scene in NA isn't going to survive the growing pains this league will experience. I hope I am wrong but I foresee a shit season and the loss of a huge amount of players as a result. I just wish we had another option.

I experienced this exact thing back during Quake 3 Fortress in the early 2000's. The competitive community was left with only 1 option for league play and the guy who lead it was an uncompromising asshole. It was our only option back then, so we had no choice but to play in the league or not play at all. The competitive scene in Q3F never recovered.

Not that anyone would care what I say about this but I've read how sigafoo has commented and reacted to many things over the years on this message board. FFS, on page 2 of this thread he literally posted screenshots of bad things people said of him in the past. He had that shit saved on his desktop and now he is going to be the end word for everything that impacts comp 6's. Red flag for the type of person you are dealing with IMO, especially the admin.

I'm sure some witty reply is incoming, good luck this season friends, I really hope I am dead wrong cause I love playing TF2 6's and like I said, we have no other options.

Need some predictions on who sits on the throne after tonight's final episode.

They have always hit us with "the best rulers don't want the crown" type talk. Only 2 characters have said that, and are still alive, are Jon Snow and Bran Stark. I think Jon dies tonight so I am going to pick Bran Stark sitting on the iron throne.

Cabbage_The convenient storm trooper ballista aim strikes again: last episode Euron could 360 noscope a dragon 3 times in a row, now all the ballistae in King's Landing AND on the Iron Fleet can't hit shit, let alone shoot. I swear only at the start did the ballistae ever shoot (and miss) about 5-6 times.
I can forgive some inconsistencies, but they can't even be consistent in how effective anti-air ballistae are against dragons across 2 CONSECUTIVE episodes...

Lets be fair and objective here. Yes, hitting a dragon flying with 3 consecutive bolts is total bullshit and that death/scene was garbage but it was 2 very different situations.

Rheagal was flying into an "ambush" so he did not see the enemy, he was low to the ground, He was flying at a slow speed and lastly in a straight line. That made him pretty much the easiest target to try and hit. Still stupid to hit 3 bolts, but those are the facts.

On the other hand, Drogon was dropping from the sky like a Dive Bomber. In areal combat, "speed is life". Drogon was going insanely fast and he had his back to the sun which made him an even harder target to aim at or hit. Plus, he was going evasive and constantly moving around unlike the attack on Rheagal.

Up to almost the very end, I still thought it was 1 big trap. Lure the whole invading army into the streets of kings landing then blow the whole thing up with Wildfire killing the army in the streets. I thought that was the main reason to move the population into the Red Keep area.

Glad to see not a single "theory" accurately predicted the deaths of Jamie and Cersei would come at the hands of a bunch of boulders.

Tery_SpaceCadet this is your thread

Analyzing chess positions like puzzles and endgame mates in 3-5 forced moves I may be solid at, but its almost a guarantee that every game I play a huge blunder will cost me when I am winning or even. I can't get away from it no matter how hard I try. So, i'm bad.

That hammer helped you control your
power, focus it. But it was never
the source of your strength
I wouldn't be surprised if in the comics and other renditions the hammer held power, but if the MCU is going to stay true to it's own lore it shouldn't contain power.

Yes, I am talking about the comics. Its the only way to talk about it.

Obviously just about very single Marvel movie that was made is just to appeal to the audience and try to make an entertaining movie. That is totally fine but there are literally tons of things that are not found in the comics that find their way into the movies. My advice, stop quoting things from in the movies.

Nub_DanishCan someone explain to me when captain America could you use lightning with thors hammer. It's stated in thor ragnorak that the hammer just channeled thors power so I don't see why captain america would get lightning powers from it.

Among other powers, the hammer itself has the powers of the elements inside of it. That is why Capt America, or anyone holding the hammer, can call on those elements.

Thor can summon lightning and other elements without the hammer. The reason his lighting attacks and power are so devastating is because after so many years of use, he can channel and magnify his natural abilities through the hammer.

nimbyCan anyone explain why the plan consisted of fighting the undead army in front of Winterfell instead of just holding the city walls initially? I feel like that would of made lighting the trench much easier as well. I understand that their plan was to lure the night king to Bran but that makes the makes the entire battle before the night king made it to Bran feel so pointless. Was the battle outside Winterfell, the following retreat to Winterfell, and the subsequent undead swarm and breach of Winterfell somehow supposed to lead the night king to Bran?

There are so many ways the fight could of been done to be not be ridiculously dumb. If you want to effectively buy time just light the trench beforehand with the dragons and hold the walls with the entire army. Instead of sacrificing all of your Calvary right at the beginning of the battle maybe use them to send a strike force while the undead are focused on the city walls to kill the night king? I think calvary leading a charge through the undead with dragons breathing fire to break a path open would of made for an awesome scene..

Lets just agree the setup was idiotic and leave it at that. As a hobby, I've studied ancient battle strategy for a few decades since highschool and things I seen in this episode were against even basic strategy.

---Cavalry charge was a complete waste. They should have been on the flanks of the castle ready to enter at a critical moment. Plus, what commander is going to do a cavalry charge into complete darkness without knowing what is in front of them.

---Should have been a minimum of 2 trenches IN FRONT of the defending troops. Again, Moats/Trenches were typical standard strategy ahead of invaders.

---Catapult/treb placement might have been the dumbest thing I saw in this video. They should have some of them INSIDE the castle walls to rain down fire for the whole battle.

--During a Castle siege, the defenders should have been pouring flammable oil from the walls/towers. We know they had this in GoT if you remember a few seasons ago, Bronn being told they had "500 barrels", he replied "get 500 more"

I'm sure I can think of more if I rewatch but just looking at the map, Winterfell is a poorly designed castle for a siege. I see no inner defensive walls for the defenders if the main walls are breached. This was pretty standard for a castle.

easily the worst of the series. I had huge expectations based on the 3 hour length.

Show Content
The major battle scene could have saved the movie but the whole battle was one big reunion fest between major characters.

Capt America using Thor's hammer was awesome, as was Thanos plucking out the Power Gem to bust capt. Marvel in the face after he headbutt her.

I had a faint hope of the object entering the battle to be The Silver Surfer. Instead it was Capt Marvel and I was sad.
