As a generality, cloth/soft pads provide greater static and kinetic friction. Hard pads provide less so. Some people prefer soft pads for high sensitivty, as it allows for greater control, which might be important when working with smaller movements and a lesser margin for error. Others prefer hard pads for the lesser "sticking" and resistance when making the variety of quick, short movements one might expect with a high sensitivity. It's ultimately user preference.

Bumping again, lots of threads at the moment.
Just to quickly list some (decent) mice with lower weights on the chance it helps with someone's purchasing:
Logitech G100s (with internal weight removed) - 62g approximately
Ninox Aurora - 70g
Razer Abyssus (original) - 72g
FinalMouse 2015 - 74g
Razer Abyssus 2014 - 80g
Zowie ZA13 - 80g
Roccat Savu (with back led cover removed) - 80g approximately
Logitech G100s - 82g
EVGA TORQ X5 - 85g
Also, the G303's shell is generally contentious; in my opinion, it suits claw gripping well and you may or may not find the shape suitable for fingertip gripping. Testing yourself is likely the best option.
Hope this helps!
Bumping for S20. I'm still with Mr. Owls TF2 Legacy, but any interested teams can treat this as me being lft. I'd love to hear about other options and tryout with some teams in case things fall through for next season.
I sent you an invite Meb if you don't mind accepting. :)
Edit: I'd also very likely be interested in the Spawn.
So with switching back to scout, I'm still in the middle of getting my DM back to where I like it, but I figure with a couple matches left in the season and looking forward to next season I could do a bit more to improve. Mostly just for a different perspective when watching demos, not necessarily to "teach" me anything. I'll likely just ask to watch one or two demos every week or so, and would prefer someone with Invite experience or who I know already.
Thanks a bunch and have a nice day.
The new ZA line might be of note, this link posted above shows the ZA 11/12/13 compared to the FK1. I might recommend the ZA13; quite identical in specs but the more exaggerated hump (picture for reference here) certainly makes the mouse feel more sizable than the dimensions suggest.
Edit: For non Zowie suggestions I'd recommend looking at the Steelseries Rival (a bit larger) or the Mionix Avior (a little wider, tiny bit less long, and a bit heavier).
To explain the link above, the two primary leagues for NA 6s would be ESEA and UGC. ESEA would be higher leveled, but still open to everyone. UGC would be lower leveled, but costs no money to play and the easier competition might ease you into competitive in a more enjoyable fashion. Regardless of if you'd prefer tougher competition or not, ESEAs current season just began within the last week, and practically every team has a set roster. UGCs upcoming season will begin in around a month and teams are still forming, so it's suggested you post on their Recruitment forum in the Looking for Team section to give yourself a shot at playing.
Also, short posts like these are a dime a dozen. Try to add in more information about yourself, how dedicated you may or might not be, interest in competing or playing for fun, your previous competitive background/experience or lack thereof (not hours), etc. Good luck!
BrimstoneZowie FK 2 isn't on there, but can I just assume it's a FK 1 bit smaller?
Yes, here's a graphic.
Final offseason bump once more. Assuming nothing changes I'll start looking at backing up for the season, but I'd still love to play if any team is looking. Thanks again everyone.
Bumping due to the extension. And again, sorry to bump every couple of days; I'd just really love to play this season and work on improving further with a team.
Final bump before the offseason ends. Thanks to everyone for the kind words, and if any teams are still looking please feel free to send me a message.
