#111 iT Servers Shutting Down in TF2 General Discussion
AllealWhat I'm suggesting is the equivalent of Fog calling his DM servers tf.tv servers. Tf.tv doesn't actually pay for those servers, because tf.tv is of course not a person. They're free advertising for the community and for this site, which is nice of Fog to do so. But most of the time advertising isn't free, which is why I asked about the revenue generated via subscribers.

The iT community is pretty popular and consists mostly of the same players in the tf.tv community. I feel like it's a worthwhile endeavor for tf.tv to get its name on the set of servers that will almost inevitably take iT's place.

When I said tf.tv this is what I meant. Is this more clear?

Yes, thank you.

AllealStimpackAllealIs there any possibility of tf.tv filling the void with some servers of their own? Are there enough funds from subscribers for something like that? Might be a good opportunity to get tf.tv's name out there.
let's not use "tf.tv" as a synonym for "anybody but me"

I'm not saying I need the servers but am not willing to front the money to run them. I haven't used the iT servers in quite a while, minus mge iT. This is a good opportunity for an active community to fill need and get their name out there. Regardless of what happens I won't really be affected. So when I say tf.TV, I mean tf.TV.

Keep in mind tf.tv is more of a pool of individuals (with a few notable exceptions) than a fluid and well-structured system capable of efficiently distributing workloads. Individuals or small groups of individuals in the community still bear the burden of actually making things happen--klanana paying for iT, enigma running tf.tv, Fog providing dm servers, Lange and his crew for running ToTH. And if you think about it, having "tf.tv" run a jump server (let alone 2 jump servers, 3 surf servers, a bball server, and whatever else) doesn't really make sense. Who gets admin/FTP? Everyone? Who pays? Who is responsible for what? Clearly we can't make paying for a tf.tv server a requirement upon joining the community, nor can we give admin/FTP to every single person within the community. As soon as the possibility of leaving ESEA presented itself earlier, people started pointing fingers at a tf.tv league as well, but at this point that's basically the same thing as pointing fingers at the entire comp tf community, since that's essentially what tf.tv has become.

Cruz"i don't understand social situations and i can't interpret sentences well, so i'm going to be obnoxious instead of try and improve myself as a person."

you expressed sarcasm through a text-only medium on the internet, and assume yuki completely missed your point (as if it had been a clearly made point at all)? What if he had a suspicion you were being sarcastic, but wanted to make some legitimate points on the off chance that you weren't? Wouldn't it be more intelligent to err on the safer side of things? And then you decide to post some snarky comment to him as if yuki has never encountered sarcasm in his life, and blame him for "being obnoxious", as if you even "understand social situations" yourself.

AllealFzeroPlatinumFzeroLet me ask this about top level tf2 play and those people that goes to LANs, if it's honestly that important to you, are you willing to completely pay for the trip completely out of your own pocket?
I'm just wondering where the line is? Is going to LAN so important to not ask for a single donation?

Thats what we have done for the past 4 seasons.

I actually thought to myself if I would have to explain, other than two teams that will get their money back, but I assumed that would be a given.

No you didn't.

when was the last time you posted something that wasn't complete and utter garbage?

#22 ultiduo_nature in Map Discussion

Given that ultiduo maps are usually small and restricted to 4 players at most, I think you can afford to make your water more aesthetically pleasing. Making such small-scale maps generally allows you some more freedom with things that would otherwise cripple fps.

Other than that, I have no other criticism since I haven't actually played your map (oops).

#14 does our education system suck? in Off Topic

And then every once in a while there's that one bullshit teacher who's obviously tenured and doesn't care at all if the students learn anything so long as they produce good-looking numbers. Sometimes, if you're lucky, these teachers also happen to either not know how to teach or are horrible people in general. If you're really lucky, they're both.

Some far more minor things:

console spat this out
"func_respawnroomvisualizer(func_respawnroomvisualizer) was unable to find func_respawnroomvisualizer named 'respawnroomRedFwd1'"

idk why there would be a forward spawn in ultiduo, but I don't think this error actually affects map play. Also console complains about you trying to use vphysics with props that don't have vphysics models, which again doesn't affect gameplay aside from making the console have more red text than it should upon map load.

Last thing:

http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/468668486806811293/A5E2429B6B705FFFA4B9564288C1BEBA69CEF0DC/

(taken with chris' maxframes and fullbright)
The prop texture clips with the wall texture because, for whatever reason, if you grid the prop it places that particular surface exactly over the wall texture that should be behind it. Just drag the prop out one unit, or clip the wall and nodraw that portion of it.

edit: try replacing whatever water texture you used with water/coast, either 01 or 02. Then your water will look like the water in the greatest jump map ever (jump_underground_final): http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/597012854118814362/D1EAE4A55170EC4084800789C5202146C734EB15/
