I've done shrooms twice. Once in the mountains in Colorado, once on a small remote beach in Thailand. Two of the coolest experiences in my life, but I definitely don't have the urge to do them very often. During the trip I remember saying to a tree "OH MY GOD WHY DON'T I DO THESE ALL THE TIME THIS IS INCREDIBLE". When I was coming down, I thought "this was SO COOL when can I trip again?". After everything was over I realized that it was a fucking cool experience, but something that I want to do sparingly.
My advice, since I've never had a bad trip, only incredible ones: Make sure you are in a comfortable environment with people that you really enjoy (or by yourself if you don't enjoy anyone). It's also nice to have some options in case you're not feeling happy about wherever you are. In colorado I spent the whole time sitting next to this small waterfall overlooking a lake, and listened to Phish with two of my buddies, and it was great. In Thailand I started out with a group of people, but realized that I really didn't want to be surrounded by all these people that I didn't really know, and ended up wandering down the beach with a friend of mine to a much quieter spot under the moonlight, and we just watched clouds and had super deep metaphysical conversations.
