I got the Zalman recently too and had to play with it to reduce the background noise, here's the settings I ended up using:
Input level: 100
Microphone Boost: +10db
Realtek HD Audio Manager settings: Enable "Noise Suppression"
Increasing the Microphone boost above 10db drastically increased the white nose level. The Realtek noise suppression really helped clean up the sound as well (as long as it was only +10db boost).
With these settings the audio is really clear for me.

"What’s interesting to me about this last situation is if 120/144Hz reduces tearing enough to the point where you’re ok with it, G-Sync may be a solution to a problem you no longer care about. If you’re hyper sensitive to tearing however, there’s still value in G-Sync even at these high refresh rates."

G-sync isn't really worth it if you're getting >120 frames.
Lightboost on the Asus gave me a bad headache and actually looked less smooth personally.
Simplest thing to do is to get the 144hz and just run it at that refresh rate!
What CPU usage does task manager report?
What are the temps and power usage of your CPU? http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
If the computer is "Loud" it usually means it's doing work and the fans have to spin up to keep it cool (mining is a cause for this, as others have noted). Look for processes with high CPU usage and high CPU load temperatures as culprits!
TimeWarner recently upgraded the internet in my area (google fiber is scary apparently)
I can stream now!

It's ok, google's buying them: http://venturebeat.com/2014/07/24/googles-1b-purchase-of-twitch-confirmed-joins-youtube-for-new-video-empire/
Make sure mat_queue_mode is set to -1.
Fix your CPU temps!
Tcase for the 4770k is 72.72°C:

Your CPU cooler is very likely not mounted properly, high temperatures like these can permanently damage the CPU.
Demos are now doing less damage per match than soldiers in invite scrims:
