#140 Anyone here bilingual/multilingual? in Off Topic
eeeKind of off topic but my college advisor recommended I take Italian as my second language credit as a prereq for med school. She figures the Latin base would help with understanding medical terminology more. Is this dumb?

Might as well just do basic online Latin courses and it'll probably help more.
It'd help you understand the terminology a bit better if you decide to study Italian. Not worth it if that's the only use you'll ever have for it though. Spend less time studying actual Latin than you would studying Italian, spend the time you saved studying for med school

Dutch, English, French and German

All are languages you learn here in school. Dutch, French and German are official languages in Belgium, English is something you can't live without these days
Some schools here also allow you to learn Spanish instead of German because German is only spoken by a small amount of people in Belgium

Videogames thaught me more English than school did though

#986 stream highlights in Videos

I guess a lot of people don't know it yet: Sa3lence has made a new channel for highlights because truktruk seems to have given up on it:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGwXJm2AvXhhWRWnrsM2R2g

I told Sa3lence to contact truktruk and ask if truktruk'd give him the main channel so Sa3lence can revive it. Not sure if he's done that yet but for now we have the new channel

#19 MaxBox on Twitch in Off Topic
h0b5t3rThis is another good reason for Valve to use TF.TV stream list instead of twitch. It will stop from showing hackers, it will show people who are actually members of the community, and it will show people who actually know what they are doing instead of random pubbers.

more than 99% of TF2 are pubbers. Pub streamers are part of the community. If anything they're more part of it than streamers who only stream competitive gametypes. Competitive (sadly) is only a tiny part of the TF2 community

And the stream list only attracts pubbers to streams anyway. They will watch what they're interested in (spoilers: not competitive). People who are interested in competitive streams figured out where to find competitive streams long ago

Also twitch chat has become a lot more toxic since random pubbers have started joining twitch chats through the stream list. It's for the best that most of them stick to the pub streams you don't care about so you don't have to deal with them

#27 Can he get banned on etf2l for cheating on tf2c? in TF2 General Discussion
swagmachinei reported him to tf2center staff back in late february, seems like they still havent done anything about it. i'd post the emails if center was up.

I also still have 3 cheaters pending. Apparently one of their AC mods who still had to review stuff left the staff not long ago. Reports that he had to review still need to be looked at by other people and they are down a man now that he's gone so it's taking a while.

Your report and some of my reports probably were part of his to review

#4 Banned from mm due to connection issues in TF2 General Discussion

You should remove the -dxlevel after launching the game with it once. tf2 stays the same dxlevel after removing it. Always having it in launch options can cause issues with tabbing in and out.
Don't know if that might have something to do with your issue but it's worth a try and should always be done regardless of MM issues or not

Also like Biscuits said, try 95. It's considered the most stable version of dx9 for tf2

#121 Confirmed MM Hackers in TF2 General Discussion
-fish-ljadHave you seen what she fucking looks like though? No wonder she's hacking, she's compensating for being one of the most unappealing looking women on the fucking planet. assuming she's the person in her avatar, she's just going for that instagram-tier look commonly associated with vapid attention whores (which she seems to be)

Enough with the personal insults. We get it. Let's not derail the thread please :)
She's a hacker. She's been posted in here. Time to move on

If she is an attention whore then giving her more attention (postitive or negative) probably is what she wants. That's why a lot of people hack in the first place

SirDuckens"Archonet - ⚝Plat Sniper LFT?"
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Archonet

Hes some next level tryhard, commented on my steam profile:
"# 11 "SirDuckens" [U:1:108441646] 18:54 115 0 active

I, too, know how to use the "status" command! Let's fuck. <3"

And invited me to this group
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/madbadandsad

He was aimbotting sniper , but then changed to soldier because we won a round by having 1 vaccinator medic.

can we all report this guy's steam profile for harassment? Valve pretty much does nothing when you report someone for cheating but with a profile like that they're more likely to ban him for harassment than anything else

edit: also use steamid.io
here's a permanent link to the profile http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198024732929

#28 Completely justified bans thread in TF2 General Discussion

got banned on twitch by Star_ twice. Not even one of his mods, actually star timing me out manually

First time was because I was tired and my sentence structure made no more sense. He had no clue what I was saying so he thought it was for the best to just time me out for 10 minutes in case I was talking shit. he apologized when doing it though. He just wanted to make sure

Second time was when Star was hosting truktruk and I said to Steven, one of truktruk's mods:
"good luck moderating with Star's viewers in chat, Steven". Turns out Star's name is Steven as well and he was lurking in truktruk's chat. He thought it was aimed at him

also got permabanned on some orange server once by a mod who'd known me for weeks and suddenly decided to spec me even though he never said anything about my aim before that

#13 Lawena problem in Videos

Sorry man. That's all I've got. You can still try reinstalling Lawena if you haven't tried that yet but I'm out of ideas

#8 Lawena problem in Videos

http://puu.sh/nQQ38/b289d4d7ca.png
take a look in your "tf" folder. Delete the backup Lawena zip files like you see at the bottom in the screenshot. They contain backups of all files that can be found in "tf > cfg" and "tf > custom". Those cause the "files not replaced due to backup folders still present" error.

http://puu.sh/nQQ0m/19304282e0.png
move all the files in your "custom" folder to a new folder on your desktop so your custom folder is empty, then start Lawena and see if it can start tf2 without the 120 seconds error. If it has to back up less files it should take less long. Afterwards you can simply put the files you put on your desktop back in custom where they belong

If this doesn't fix the issue then the issue might be Lawena itself just not working on your PC for some reason I don't know

#5 Lawena problem in Videos

Doubt I'll be able to help you with anything if the advice I've already given doesn't work. I never really encountered any of the issues you've had and I'm not that familiar with Lawena

You can try redownloading Lawena in case you have an outdated version. I doubt redownloading TF2 is necessary

#2 Lawena problem in Videos

every time Lawena loads its own config it backs up your own config in a zip file in your tf folder. My backup zip files never delete properly, but I haven't had any issues with them still being there and I just delete them when 10 or so pile up. Take a look in your tf folder and remove the zip files if they're still there

Also I'd recommend backing up your own config somewhere else as well before you start TF2. Friend of mine lost his entire config because of Lawena having trouble replacing the configs with the original ones again

Never encountered the 120 seconds issue, but maybe this'll fix that as well.
If not: Maybe it just takes too long to back up your config because it's too big of a file? It usually says so when your cfg files are too big to back up but maybe you don't get the error message for some reason. Try placing your cfg files in Custom elsewhere before starting Lawena. Maybe that helps
