To bring this back to relevance, the point I’m making is that I had an idea and did it. I did not make huge numbers of threads and posts, I did not hassle others for help, I did not imply that anyone in the community was owe me anything or due me any help [sic]. I just created something I thought was a good idea and learned the skills required along the way. I say this not to trumpet my own horn, but to encourage others to think this way. Over the years I’ve seen far too many otherwise decent ideas appended with “… so I’ve gathered a team of 25 people with no clear purpose or role to help out while I will manage the project”. I’ve never seen any of them reach a final public release or even a semi-functional beta. All that matters is the time and effort you put in yourself. The worst case scenario is that you walk away from it wiser for the experience, and with new skills and knowledge.
