ITS HAPPENING
flyingbuddyIf you're not sure to do 1v1 or 2v2 in mge, why not just do both :D
As much as I would love to do this, I don't want to get too ambitious with this first event. What I am thinking might work would be to run the MGE tournament as the first event while people show up for the 6v6 tournament, which I figure would be the main interest of people on here. So say we open the signups from 12pm-1pm then run the MGE tournament ASAP and have it all wrapped up before we start the 6v6 tournament, maybe at like 3pm. What do you guys think about that? My main concern is timeliness, as I have been involved in far too many disastrous tournaments that ended up taking way too long, and I know everyone's time is valuable.
pie_heroPut me down as a maybe ill be in california by then but idk if i can get down there. If i cant make it on a team could i just hang out and meet people?
Absolutely, come hang out. And if the LAN center bores you don't forget you can hang out with your buddies in the shopping mall too.
I am excited to announce a new TF2 SoCal LAN tournament series I will be organizing in association with Oomba Inc! This is the first of hopefully many bigger and better events at this location.
What: TF2 SoCal Series LAN Tournament #1
Where: Oomba LAN Center
24155 Laguna Hills Mall
Laguna Hills, CA 92653
When: Saturday May 9th 2015 12PM noon PST
Stream: www.twitch.tv/b4nny with Production by Dashner
Price: $20, prepay PayPal gift/friend/family to b4nnytv@gmail.com, or pay at the door
This is NOT A BYOC. They have 32 high end PCs (with 144Hz monitors) that will be reserved specifically for tournament use. Just bring your keyboard, mouse, mousepad, headset, config, etc. if you prefer to use your own. Capacity is roughly 150 people, but the location is in the Laguna Hills mall so there should be plenty of room for spillover and plenty to do during any down time.
How to Register:
Please nominate a captain and send me a PM through teamfortress.tv with your 6 player rosters in the following format:
TF2 SoCal Series
Team Name:
Roster:

Contact info (steam/email/etc):
Have each player, or the captain send the entry fee of $20/player as a gift/friend/family payment through paypal to b4nnytv@gmail.com. You may also pay at the door for the event if necessary.
Event overview:
6v6 Double Elimination Bracket
$500 Guaranteed Prize pot
1st - $240
2nd - $140
3rd - $120
Format:
Double elimination, best of 3 format. First to 5, 30 minute halves. First maps will be set in the bracket, second map is picked by loser (after 2 map bans), third is a lottery if necessary. This hopefully guarantees everyone a fair amount of match time throughout the event. The bracket, with maps, will be populated once I start receiving signups.
Map Pool:
Cp_badlands
Cp_Snakewater_final1
Cp_granary
Cp_process_final
Cp_gullywash_final1
Cp_metalworks_rc7
Cp_Sunshine_rc7
koth_viaduct_pro6
You can bring the maps or download them at the event, so don’t worry about that.
Whitelist:
ESEA S18 (http://whitelist.tf/esea_6v6_s18)
Oomba Inc. is a digital tournament management software company based in Irvine who have just recently opened up a Tournament Center location in Laguna Hills, and are looking to hold a number of branded eSports and FGC events there. They have decided to make TF2 a part of their eSports ventures so lets show them some love!

I will be updating this thread with more information as the event approaches. Please post if you are interested in attending so we can get a rough estimate of participation. I am really hoping we can get enough for 4 teams for the bracket, but the more the merrier! Also please leave any questions or concerns below and I’ll try my best to answer them. Thanks guys!
I swear there's always something conflicting with the ESEA LAN nowadays. Have fun boys.
Jalapeno Cheese Bread (footlong)
Cold Cut Combo
Pepperjack Cheese
Toasted
Every vegetable except tomatoes (don't forget the cilantro)
Sweet onion sauce, Spicy Mustard, Southwest Sauce
Salt and pepper
$5 well spent
deetrDid they confirm that there would be no ingame voice communication or did you just not have it because it was beta/press event?
It was just disabled for the version we played. It should have full in game communication through voice/text.
Here's my thoughts. Sorry its 30 mins long and I still forgot to address some things. I'll be around to answer questions here or in my stream as always.
I did a brief critique of the map on my stream, figured you might be interested to watch it, heres a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsO2N1ddUX4
Been impressed with the map so far, hope you keep making improvements. Good luck!
messiahJI hope b4nny makes a thread about his first impression.
I will answer questions about it on Friday March 6th after the embargo/NDA expires.
Thank you for rescheduling it to the 13th, hopefully that helps more people with attending. I'll be there and i'm looking forward to seeing y'all too. We should definitely make reservations, so it would help to know an estimate of how many people are showing up.
Did they not test run of any of this? It's a shame that 128 teams of new players are getting their first competitive TF2 experience from something so sloppily run. The #1 most important thing in running a tournament is getting it done in a timely fashion, especially when these teams have already been asked to commit 3 hours of their time this weekend to play, and if that means you need to test things beforehand please do or else your name might as well be JDawg.
I'd like to play and stream them. Last I remember the map list could use some updating, but hopefully this revival can become a little more permanent and we can get our voices heard for any changes we need. Maybe I can get some ESEA codes to give away too and get more people involved.
Someone pick me up from DFW at 12:30AM pretty please
