#64 RGL S12 Advanced Happenings/Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

oh for sure agree with u on head to head it was just a separate comment on how it's a bit bizarre how there's RNG on when you face a team before or after they forfeit, us old heads obviously just think things should be the same as they were in ESEA cuz it just worked (schedules going out for 8 matches at a time and making it fair that way instead of a system which requires admins to notice and override fuckups, like scream mentioned he failed to do) but i think its still valuable to look at other ways of handling forfeits and stuff

It feels like whatever autoscheduler that is being used to "make things more fair" in theory ends up making things overly complicated and clearly doesn't work well. IIRC ESEA used to assign schedules 4 weeks ahead of time (twice a season) which meant you wouldn't have weird shit like playing the same team only a week after you played them last, maybe something like that could mitigate these issues?

I looked back at ESEA seasons and most seasons they had IM start with ~20 teams, where 3 or 4 max would die, leading to a situation where you played every single team in the div and usually didn't have rematches, I wonder if it'd be possible to restructure things slightly to try and have ~20 teams in adv? Last I played in S11 it started with only 11 teams and had 9 at the end of the season, whereas this season started with 15 and ended with 12. In ESEA the IM playoffs were also top 8 teams, which I feel like there's an argument for--it meant the more middle of the pack teams could at least have some hope of making playoffs, and it makes scheduling contentions like this not nearly as big a deal. Given how long there is between seasons you could probably extend playoffs a bit and do top8 double elim if people really wanted it as well. Maybe it's worth doing a poll of advanced teams to see if they'd want to do top8 next season?

Another potential scheduling thing that I heard but haven't seen discussed much is the idea that when a team dies, it's an advantage to the teams that have already played them, as the other teams either get forfeits, or get matched against better teams in the future (generally it's not the top teams that are dying). If there are going to be forfeits for teams that play the dead team, it would probably be the most fair to mark all previous matches they have played as forfeits as well, so a team that lucks into being scheduled against a team that just died doesn't get as negatively affected by it.

The idea that dead teams get fully removed from the scheduler with RGL means teams that didn't play them yet will have to play 16 matches vs real teams, whereas other teams get a free win obviously. IMO the best solution to this is to keep the dead team in the schedule until they've played each team once (then remove them), or somehow otherwise ensure that the amount of forfeits that teams get is even over the course of the season. Alternatively, if a team dies in the first few weeks you could just remove their previous games and have the teams that played them be rescheduled to play alive teams (therefore everyone gets to play the game more).

hellstarRyotI'm asking what he could due to prove he was or wasn't cheating; if you think his current attempts are not enough or don't make sense, what should he do?Explain how dippidy's clips of elijah make sense. Explain how he could be perfectly tracking a player within 66 milliseconds of them changing position or stopping. Show other examples of legit players doing the same thing constantly.

Even if elijah does go to a LAN, it doesn't mean he hasn't been cheating. It really isn't that hard to play the game at an advanced level on scout without cheating. Especially when he has been playing this game for this long. Elijah shouldn't get our trust, because he already broke it when he cheated before and got banned for it. Unless you also mean to suggest elijah was falsely banned 2 years ago? It shouldn't have taken mxr showing wallhacks on stream to get banned from RGL. Everyone knew mxr was cheating for years, and even got anticheat banned on faceit.

Why should be extend our trust to a person who was on the same roster as not one, not two, but THREE other cheaters?

can we talk about the fact that fenomeno is unbanned already (has been for 8 months thankfully he isnt playing lol)

ElenaManettaWhat if we extend the first offense sentence from one year to two years and if you decide to play RGL again, you need to pay back all the money you've won your team according to the RGL team earnings number. Someone might just quit instead of paying RGL hundreds of dollars to play another season.

just get rid of them permanently, this just gives an even bigger excuse for them to be like "look guys ive changed, see this i paid my dues" and then continue to cheat and waste everyone's time

#83 Cheater bans should be permanent in TF2 General Discussion

For what it’s worth I don’t see why there couldn’t be different severity for hl vs 6s, if they are more tolerant of ex cheaters reforming that’s fine, RGL should just poll people after this season to gauge things. My guess is 6s players would argue for longer bans (can u imagine someone cheating at a LAN and trying to play two years later), we’re already plagued with cancelled lans, top players leaving and people not taking invite as seriously as before, the absolute last thing this game needs is leniency on cheaters being another reason dissuading people from playing. The league is already very strict for other offenses, it seems perfectly reasonable to be extra strict on cheating for the same reasons (legitimacy, sponsors etc)

2 year cheating ban "first offense" sir there should not be any other offenses, remove them from the game permanently (or 5 years at least)

#21 Is there a SINGLE reason in TF2 General Discussion

i have a crazy idea, what if u guys did a New Survey... now that it's been used in eu for many years and not changed gameplay besides quality of life improvements

the soldier gunboats self damage thing was lumped in with it i think and that one could actually affect gameplay (but soldier class is simply countered by scout anyways so who cares), at the very least get the teammate collision stuff in

#32 Competitve horror stories? in TF2 General Discussion

one of the most memorable was getting absolutely dismantled by yomps on an hour and a half long badlands match (and the entire rest of that season, he was so fucking good, rest in peace man)

another was getting a new mouse (fuck u logitech) that had a more sensitive mouse click and accidentally popping uber in a stalemate vs froyo black, we were tied 1-1 on sunshine (and i think it was in playoffs, when we had won the first map on granary), after which point team morale completely disappeared and we got giga rolled

yet another invite playoffs match was tied 4-4 on gully last and somehow my phone misheard my comm as 'hey google' and started blabbering some shit, which happened at the exact same instant that the enemy sniper peeked for the hero shot, so i died and we lost the match (we won the third map tho, thanks google)

another was IM grand finals, my first ever important game, where i started off having Zero ubers in the first half: one drop to a spy, one drop to synchronized rocket spam, and another to a sniper :) but we somehow came back and won (get owned ckj)
