GetawhaleUsing it for scrims for teams is a fantastic idea, I thought I'd pitch in another idea though.
The mapping community is huge and people make fantastic maps that don't always make it on many servers, so it's tough to get feedback on them and whatnot. You could make your server concentrate primarily on custom maps of all types and formats, as a place for map makers to get feedback and to get their maps really played. It's something that's needed a lot more than you may think. You could go and keep up to date on the contests they are constantly running on tf2maps, and pick 4-6 of them or whatever each time, and publicize your server there, on reddit, here, wherever.
I figure you'll likely go the comp/scrims route, but just wanted to toss this in here too. Maybe someone else can see it and get inspired with their own server.
Those servers pop up from time to time. They're full for 2 days and then no one joins the server because no one is already there so the server just dies.
cool dude majoring in chemical engineering also likes anime
what the fuck sort of video is that
SpannzerCan someone host it in a .rar file so our broswers don't scream please
If you're not willing to sacrifice your steam account to make it to invite you never deserved to play anyways.
Nurseywe're playing in open again :>
Is that supposed to be intimidating?
TirlbyI had typed up a pretty long response before I accidentally left the page, so I'll just try to get to the gist of it.
Slin, I agree that mentoring can be unrewarding. However, the newbie mixes allow players to not only get feedback from coaches, but make connections with them and other newbies. They are meant to introduce players to 6s, and provide a place for more experienced people to play. I've made friends that I enjoy playing with from newbie mixes, and I've gotten to know some of the coaches too. It's basically an open pug group and I think it's important to keep it so newer players can have a place to meet new people and play pugs. Since the community is so small connections are quite important. Honestly the newbie mixes are more about hanging out and playing with other people; the learning aspect is just an added bonus. People who enjoy them will stick around and come back. So through the mixes people will get the chance to try out 6v6 if they're new, and continue playing it if they enjoy it. Basically, newbie mixes are better for introducing the game to newer players than tf2center, and are a way for people to play pugs that aren't as high skill as tf2mix.
+1 to all of that. Newbie mixes are great not because you teach newer players something they could not have learned by watching youtube videos, they're nice because you have someone you can actually communicate with and it's a much more personal experience. I know I got into newbie mixes after I played one where you coached me and it was pretty cool to see a name I recognized from eXtv casts teaching me how to play TF2.
I hear 'Losing your life in mge' and all i see is this: http://www.twitch.tv/saamaas/c/5035394

Depends on what map you plan on voting out...
There is a second poll on what map to put in and if you don't like the choices you can vot not to change anything.
I don't know much about hardware but we have the same CPU and graphics card, I have 16gb of RAM however, I get around 200 fps in HL dropping to maybe 160 during mid fights.
I use the second monitor to put pandora on while I'm playing, or put Netflix on one monitor and browse the internet on the other because I have the attention span of a squirrel.
AllealI didn't think it was an experiment, I thought it was just to demonstrate why we have the restrictions that we do. It wasn't really fun to watch from a competitive perspective. Fun for messing around though.
Also weapons like the LL and CM5K are still banned because nobody cares enough to unban them. Neither of them will see any serious use in competitive play. I mean we probably should unban them just to show that that's the real reason they're never used but it's pretty much just symbolic.PAPASTAINbring back solidsnake
how many good HL players can handle top 6s play, I wonder? we'd get a lot more off of someone like stabby using spy unlocks than some dude who normally off-classes to him once every twenty matches
Every spy unlock except for the enforcer and spycicle is legal. Spy is bad in 6s.
Pretty sure the Cow Mangler would almost be a direct upgrade for 6s.
