So around two weeks ago I got a 144hz monitor (vg248qe) and it was incredibly smooth on the first day. I've noticed that since then to now, TF2 will feel various levels of smooth. For example, some days in MGE, where I get easily 200+ fps constant, the game will feel like it's running at 75hz or something (my estimate is probably way off). It's certainly not as smooth as I feel like it should be. Other days, it feels wonderful, and it's very noticeable. I play with fps_max 0 and the following net settings cl_cmdrate 100, cl_interp_ratio 1,cl_lagcompensation 1, cl_pred_optimize 2, cl_smooth 0, cl_smoothtime 0.01, cl_updaterate 66, rate 60000. Is there a possibility that my monitor could be downscaling my refresh rate randomly or something? I'm confident that it's not just my eyes playing tricks on me. Possibly related, my old 75hz monitor did the same. I felt like some days the 75hz was VERY smooth and some days it felt really choppy.
Any and all help is appreciated :D

ellA HUD (custom font) crosshair is really the only way to go if you wan't special shapes or dimensions except for in a few special cases. It also rids you of the antialiasing in the built in crosshairs. Viritually every custom crosshair out there is also flawed in some way (font asymetrical/not centered - requires painstaking centering for every res, size interval not dense enough to fit grid, otf format doesn't position properly etc)), so it's a good idea to make your own. I recommend FontLab. I made this crosshair for my HUD. I estimate it would take me less than an hour to make another one like it, but I'd rather not since I'd end up maintaining 20 clueless peoples custom HUDs. I can however show you the ropes if you wan't to give it a try. FontLab and TF2 HUD files i a jungle if you don't know where to look, but when you do you find that there are few things you actually need to learn to get things done.
I found a custom crosshair that more or less was what I wanted. Thanks a lot for your help and suggestions ^^ I appreciate it.
tranchemusicdelpoAt a very small size(size 22ish) the crosshair turns thin like I want, but at the size that I want it (35ish), the crosshair looks chubby. I've tried adjusting it, but I can't seem to get the thinness at a reasonable crosshair size.
Because the entire crosshair scales, not just the length of the cross arms
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.
I downloaded pudhud a while back, not sure if it still is completely functional with the new updates and stuff.

MunchAdjust the size slider a bit, sometimes the thickness changes when you make it larger/smaller.
I'll fiddle around with this and see what happens c: Thanks!
So I know this probably wouldn't really matter to most people, but it kind of bothers me. When I use crosshair 7 (the + sign), the crosshair looks kind of (hardly) fat. I was wondering if anyone knows how to change it so it looks thin. I use dxlevel 8 and Chris' high frames config at 1080p.
This is what it looks like:

I know this is a pretty useless question, but I'd be super grateful to get an answer c:
Thanks I'll do some testing c:
So I have a pretty awful processor but a decent graphics card. I use Chris' dx9 fps config (and dxlevel 95). I'm curious as to which graphical settings and what not affect cpu usage. I'd like to keep the things in the fps config that help my cpu while keeping the graphics relatively decent. Basically I'd like to know which settings in Chris' fps configs and the ingame settings affect my cpu and which affect my gpu.

YEAH RIGHT
I don't know these people
brownymasterInvisible players is usually solved by recording a demo. Used to happen before, but not as often as it does now. The freeze sounds like a HUD problem since I get a similar effect from hud_reloadscheme, but I don't know for sure. Also, are you running fullscreen or windowed? That happened to me way back when I ran fullscreen on a bad computer.
I run in fullscreen. I'll try the demo recording thing and running in windowed.
So for a while I've had a problem where, in random pubs at the start of a new round, my game would freeze for 3 or 4 seconds (sound loop). In the game, some players' models would be invisible. I have to rejoin the server to fix the invisible player problem. Does anyone know what's causing both the freeze and the invisible players and how to fix either? Thanks ^^
d_bhey delpo youre amazing!
THANKS BUT I'M AFRAID I DO NOT RECOGNIZE YOU.
