Marmaduke I talked to the leader of your top 3 IM team right before I made this thread and found out that you are also declining the Invite spot. Just sayin.

KoobadoobsNo teams are going to be the same as last season, so that's one big advantage you will have, and that should make you want to move while your team is good enough to at least make top 5, maybe get a LAN spot.
I'm just no longer at the point where I feel that its worth it to make the necessary sacrifices to reach that level, and because of that, our team will be unfit for Invite.
harbleuthis is such a stupid attitude. nobody in invite is playing tf2 for money or anything like that. pretty sure everyone in invite is playing because they enjoy the game and the competition. if i was playing for any reason other than fun i would go play LoL or some other game you can actually make money from. teams may break up after the season ends but that doesn't mean they didn't have fun playing. mihalys flow broke up after s11 but i had a blast playing with that team, even coming in 4th at lan. just becuase you've had a bad experience in invite before doesn't make you qualified to speak on everyone elses behalf.
if you said you didn't enjoy playing invite then i would understand. but you keep wording it as if nobody can ever enjoying playing invite level tf2 and as if it is some blackhole that sucks out all fun from the game.
Do you really think your team would come close to surviving for even one season with a negative record? Be honest.
Do you even remember how you behaved the last time you lost?
If you feel that we need to be voted out of IM because we are too good then that is perfectly understandable. I would vote the same way. Personally I never felt like we didn't belong there, but I can't speak for the teams we played against. I think that if so many Invite teams had not died and the right amount of ambitious teams had formed this offseason we would not even be a contender to win this poll, but that's how things go I suppose.
I think some people are a little insulted by how they are interpret our team's attitude to be. It's not that we don't want to try. We do try. We scrim frequently and we want to be competitive and do our best to win, otherwise there is no point. Having no interest in being a top 4 LAN team does not mean we think everything is a joke, it's just a difference in priorities.
What we care about is having fun, and I happen to think Invite is where fun goes to die. That's all. Last season the teams had a 50% survival rate, and I've spent enough time there already to know why that is the case.
here i found you some invite teams. please have them

dfywhy wouldn't you wanna play invite if you have the chance? yeah obviously its not fun to get obliterated by the teams that are pretty much LAN bound from the get-go but it would be better to learn from it and challenge yourselves to improve since you're playing comp regardless.
Once again I think you guys are having trouble understanding that some people reach a point where they are no longer interested in striving to be a top team, but still enjoy playing the video game with their friends. If IM offered no challenge I would not be interested in playing there either (we were denied the spot last season for example), but it does. We scrim exclusively against IM teams on a nightly basis, and just finished a fun challenging season, and I doubt these teams we play would tell you they are unfairly matched.
Also, I happened to catch a few of your casts this season, and I have to say, you do come off as a bit of a dick sometimes. A lot of the trash talk I heard and read from you lately about mid level teams and players is pretty unwarranted, and I think if you were actively trying to compete in the scene you might find out that you are incorrect about teams getting worse over time.
harbleuwhat makes you hate invite so much? had a bad experience? plenty of players have fun playing in invite, you are just making yourself look like an idiot by saying it isn't fun. i really don't care if you don't want to play invite or not. if you get voted into invite you have three options i see. put in effort to get better and have fun, not put in effort and go 0-16, or break up and have another team take your spot.
The players that have fun in invite are the ones that are currently winning, there are almost no exceptions to this rule. Everyone who did not do well last season died, and nobody wants to replace them. It's not just me or my team.
Think back to the last invite team you played for that was not a success. Did you finish the season and stick it out and learn and improve, or did you just quit and try to scramble better players the next season?
Harbleu you have a right to vote for whoever you like, but i don't particularly care how you feel about whether i want to "put in effort to get better". Every team has their own motivations for playing this game and I don't question them. Like for example, some people might want so desperately to win that they cut every weak link on their team every season until they are the best, or offer players 500 dollars to play for them, or play with a group of 5 people who resent them and talk shit behind their backs to everyone who will listen, and I think that's just swell.
I honestly don't think we're too good for IM. We very well may be the best choice for the poll, but thats due to lack of teams. Sorry half the teams died in Invite and nobody wants to fill the spots (because its not fun).
The invite poll is going to be up soon, supposedly as early as tonight, so I thought it might be prudent to talk with the community about the fact that I really do not want to play in invite.
Competitive TF2 is something that my team does in the evenings in order to have fun and spend time with some friends. It's a casual activity, you know...like a video game. We lack the time, motivation, and skill to be competitive in invite, as well as the means to travel to the LAN if we were to make it (we would not).
From what I hear, killing is having a hard time finding teams to be in the poll, and that's probably because they also know that the division is a bleak black hole of frustration from which no fun can escape.
I'm not sure who will be in the poll, but I urge you to vote Anyone Else But DTP 2012, because we will not play. Thanks. Sorry.
L block i will make you cum so hard it will ruin your fucking life
think it over
that bwat guy seems good
sorry
this player is good
VortexAbsolutely none of your examples are comparable to Craig coming back from s7 to s12 to get a spot in Invite.
i think its awfully presumptuous and ignorant to claim he got a spot based on his history
i tried the guy out as pocket for my IM team before season 8, for only one night, and i distinctly remember being impressed. he's a good player.
also i seriously doubt winning open a million years ago on medic is opening any invite doors for him at this point
i think that everything will be just fine
not in it, dont care
