I forgot to mention: the mouse also occasionally disconnects in simple operations during regular windows usage (yes, also am on Windows 7). I'm guessing it has to do with a power issue at the USB hub/motherboard. What are my potential plans for action here? I'm hesitant to open up my computer, but could it be something as simple as dust?

The problem gets exacerbated by usage. So, trying to repeatedly reconnect/connect the mouse, especially if something intensive is running, will cause the disconnecting to happen much more frequently.

If I were to go into my computer to check for things, what would you say is best to look for?

I'd just find a friend who like to bomb you for practice.

I tried lowering it to 125hz (lol) even, but I normally run at 500hz. There was seemingly no effect in the poopification threshold.

I think it's the intensity of the game. Skyrim pooped almost instantly. It has to do with actual motion in-game, as opposed to menu-interaction.
However, I'm almost embarrassed to say I'm glad Ace of Spades works. I need some respectable, fair mechanics FPS on hand to IV.

But yeah, not TF2-specific, not Source Engine specific.

Tried them both, no difference.
Also, if it were a cable issue, why does the same motion not cause any trouble, yet when in TF2, everything poops itself with a very low threshold of poopability?

Current mouse: CM Storm Spawn, connected by USB
Other mouse I tried: Razer Orochi, also by USB

Both mice had their respective drivers fully updated, and were only connected individually, never both at the same time. I believe to switch them, I uninstalled their individual drivers, and then booted my PC with one or the other connected.

Last time my PC broke (posted about it on here before), it took me all summer to fix it. Turns out USB drivers were the issue, and I hadn't needed to buy a new motherboard...

Yesterday, my mouse randomly disconnected in TF2. Upon tabbing out, it becomes responsive again in about 10-15 seconds, whereupon I can go back into TF2, but any single rapid movement will cause it to disconnect again.

I've tried a different mouse, and the same happens with it as well, albeit I have a larger "grace range" of motion.

My best guess is that it's a USB driver thing, although I did try and update the drivers for both mice. I also read that uninstalling and reinstalling USB root hubs would do something, as well as disabling legacy usb support. Neither helped. Also, I've obviously restarted plenty of times.

I'm currently at a loss for what to do. I was all set to buy my mouse again and call it a day, but this is really frustrating, and without an obvious (to me) solution.
Another thing that was suggested was that the mouse cable is actually messed up. This would make sense to me, especially after fiddling with the mouse-end of the cable causing the mouse to disconnect/reconnect; however, the fact that both mice and different USB hubs/ports have this issue, and that the same mouse motion only works while in TF2: it is seemingly TF2 specific.

I'd really appreciate any help whatsoever.
I'm jonesing for TF2 all de time.

That's actually evil and kinda not nice.
For one, any moderately caffeine dependent person will not only have to go about their day feeling very tired/sluggish, but also will likely experience withdrawal symptoms, such as a pretty bad headache.
Also, and I don't know if she's even able to, but most will try and go out of their way to get the caffeine intake they need/desire, and that might be something that's not very easy to do, say if she's at work.

I dunno. I think you could've done something better. I mainly chose to chastise you about it because of the headache potential...
