#500 GXL LAN Fall 2014 in News

Also, I wanted to remind people about Airon's fundraiser - http://teamfortress.tv/thread/19912/airon-gxl-fundraiser

We've actually just secured a fantastic offer that I want to share here since I won't be able to vlog about for a few days. ProBattleLeague - http://www.battleleague.com - are sponsoring this event through assisting us with a few pieces of equipment that I can return to them for use in their upcoming "Best of the West" competition. (More details on that as they develop, it's definitely coming together slowly but surely, PM me if you're interested in more information)

ANYWAYS, PBL has agreed to match people's donations towards Airon's fundraiser!!! $900 is still the cost of Airon's ticket, but with PBL's offer the amount we are looking for from community donations is now $450. We've already received $260 from donors which means we just need another $190 to fully fund Airon's travel!

Thanks so much for everyone's support and interest in this event. We are incredibly eXcited for GXL and hope you are to.

That is a pretty good tip skeej. Something I haven't tried but sounds delicious is Wolfgang Puck's method, apparently he cooks it similar to risotto. So you would cook up some delicious veggies, throw in the dried pasta, then add chicken stock bit by bit until all the liquid is absorbed and the pasta is cooked.

I got a wart taken off a year ago, but I also do have a ton of burn marks all over my arms :/

PenguinSnivyChef eXtine!
Chef Jeff sounds so much better though

Yeah I've gotten called Chef Jeff quite a bit throughout my years in the kitchen. The guys at Tabla definitely like to send me out the kitchen with: "Cya neXt time!"

MasterKuniWhat other kinds of cheeses would make a good pasta sauce if I'm not a fan of bleu cheese?

Well, a typical alfredo sauce would just be butter cream and Parmesan. Giadi Laurentiis puts a splash of lemon juice in her's which definitely is a nice touch.

Grana Padano is really similar to Parmesan but cheaper, a lot of restaurants use that instead of real Parmigiano Reggiano. Pecorino Romano and Ricotta Salata are both delicious as well, but maybe a little too salty to make a whole sauce with em.

With Cauliflower, cheddar cheese is pretty classic. Smoked gouda would also be awesome.

Cheese is delicious, whatever your favorite is would surely work well.

mmm just leave it out War. Chili flakes are generally not crazy spicy, but sometimes you uneXpectadly bite into a seed and can get outspiced even if there isn't much chili present. I'd suggest roasting the garlic on the side, then adding it to some cooked down diced onions. That way you'd get some more flavors in there. Still would be delicious with just the garlic and tomatoes though.

#10 Airon GXL Fundraiser in LAN Discussion

Yyyaaooo!!!

Airon is a huge part of our plans for GXL. i52 showed what can be done, but there were still some bumps in the road. Such productions are not easy to pull off, and definitely require some resources as well. His eXpertise will be crucial to what we are capable of doing as neither myself, dashner, or lange are eXperienced enough to handle the eXtensive audio setup we'll be needing. Having Airon present will be a big boost to our production capabilities.

We're nicely on our way towards getting Airon to GXL, please help us gather the resources we need to put on the best production possible for you guys. <3

ArieArxIn game camera man should use some third person. TF2 has appeal for not just the aim of a player, but team's positioning and third person can show this incredibly well.No.

I definitely love watching TF2 in third person. Sadly, transitioning good shots in real time is pretty difficult and it's generally better to just stay in first person. I like a third person shot when things are getting crazy and the pov player dies, but I know I'm probably a minority in that regard :/

Couple thoughts:

When jumping into a team's mumble, try to stick to that team's POV. It's a lil brain frazzling to be watching one team's roamer while listening to the other team talking bout sending in a bomb. Sometimes this happened, sometimes it didn't. I'm not sure if player binds were working, which would certainly have hampered pulling that off.

Player health bars - I really prefer the setting where health bars only show up upon players taking damage. It's annoying to see during the roll-out, but I think that's a whole lot less annoying then just having health bars floating above everyone when nothing is happening. If there isn't any damage happening, you can just look at the side bar to see people's health.

Player outlines - can these be brightened up a bit? I watched a good chunk of i52 on my phone and at the low-res picking up the outlines was kinda tough.

So much awesomeness at the i52 cast though, definitely set a new standard. Great job everyone.

#3 PBL: LA / "Best in The West" in Recruitment (looking for players)

I talked to Arizona at TI4 and he eXpressed a little bit of interest then. Who all showed up for that random event that Twin Galaxies put on? Wasn't Sakura there?
