#11 High skill level pub server balance in TF2 General Discussion
RaytekI'd really love to play on a server that uses a more aggressive version of Gentleman Jon's ranking system and also has good class balance. I just want to play 2009-era pub TF2 when we had less unlocks, more people talking, and 3 competent medics per team.

This, although 3 medics is generally overkill if you have someone playing Engineer and the person playing the class isn't a gigantic pussy. Pubs that aren't just filled with HL kiddies but have people who give a fuck like back in the old days would be the saving grace of pub TF2 in 2015.

IncoIt seems that, much like Overwatch, they don't necessarily care for mechanical skill.

a) Appealing to the console audience and lowest common denominator (pubstompers who don't want to leave the fish bowl, people who buy cosmetics and think that's the only part of the game, etc) gets sales

b) Randy Pitchford is quite honestly an awful human being who doesn't really care about making a good game, just one that makes money

It looks like Destiny - Gearbox Edition.

A lot of people I've played these kinds of games with are tired of the PICK ONE OF X CLASSES WITH MULTIPLE REDUNDANCIES BETWEEN SEVERAL OF THEM TO GET ON THE MOB GRIND FOR NOT-GARBAGE WEAPONRY AND ARMOR trend but apparently the console audience isn't.

Not a big fan of the new Crunchbang distro as of yet, v1.0 has a lot of kinks to work out.

#1 LF emergency pocket in Recruitment (looking for players)

We need someone who can:

  • Pay their debts fees
  • Play pocket without needing a rock-bottom "fresh-outta-UGC/first-season-of-Open" explanation. Lengthy maincalling experience a plus, but not required.
  • Jive with the squad, provide feedback, promote a no-salt environment
  • Not be a complete retard (can't stress this one enough)
  • Protect the equivalent of a senior citizen playing Demoman when with the combo
  • I FOLLOW THE KEV GUIDE TILL I DIE - STILL WAITIN' ON THE K-BEEZY MIXTAPE

Thank you for your time.

#59 Summer Reading? in Off Topic
nopehasn't been mentioned is Haruki Murakami

Namedropped him on page 1. I had to read A Wild Sheep Chase and it was one of the better books I've read, very enjoyable even though it was for coursework. Even wrote a paper on it.

Not_MatlockI'm working on the Grey Knights Omnibus.
Show Content
First two stories rock, third blows dick imo.

If you're keen on keeping up the 40k tradition, a 40k must-read is Brothers of the Snake. I'd then recommend Legends of the Space Marines. Unlike the RTS and tabletop games, you benefit from staying within the Imperium when it comes to reading. Dan Abnett created an absolute legend for the Imperial Guard known as Ibram Gaunt but it is a bitch to get the omnibus editions since GW stopped publishing them for some ungodly reason. I've only got The Saint and I've held off on reading until I snag The Founding so I can at least wait and try to nab The Lost (that last one is $44 minimum on Amazon from 3rd party retailers but you can purchase all the books in them individually for much cheaper).

The Horus Heresy is great if you want to get a look inside the formation of what the video games present as the ruinous Chaos Space Marines, also by Abnett.

Congratulations alfa, you've got Billdozer, the last (and perhaps the only) person on the planet earth who genuinely enjoys pumping out pictures with showstopper's face slapped on 'em, completely not amused.
