ReasonerMonths ago you called me absolute scum about 3 times in ugc forums . I denied a ringer in playoffs, although my reasons weren't for winning but what if they were? I could just say I was denying a ringer to win to give myself an edge, screw sportsmanship on rings or something I'm trying to win using your logic.

You are trying to compare two completely different things by saying "they both help your team win." We had this discussion already a couple pages back. There is a huge difference between punching someone and murdering them, same with talking shit to someone and completely preventing them from playing. Of course there has to be a line drawn somewhere, and I understand some people want it drawn before trash talk, but to argue that the two of them are the similar because they help your team is idiotic.

HallowI understand competition as well as the next guy. Competition is generally regulated though. So outlawing trashtalking would eliminate that element, which I feel adds nothing to the game (though it's obvious people disagree with me on this) and you'd still get to do your very best to win.

Which again leads back to the you sounding like the most boring person on earth. You sound like someone that thinks everyone deserves participation trophies so they don't get their feelings hurt that they lost. I agree that trash talking should be regulated to some extent (which it is) so things don't get out of hand, but to completely eliminate it would remove a huge part of the intensity from the game.

Shit i just noticed marmaduke said the same thing about participation medals as me, guess it is that obvious.

HallowNot saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying it's frowned upon (ie sportmanship is encouraged to the fullest). I know the cross country skiing community generally looks down on Northug for being a bit cocky in is interview, and that's in not even proper shit talking.

Of course sportsmanship is encouraged over shit talking, but you know what is encouraged over that? Winning. Nobody strives to have the best sportsmanship, they strive to win. If we wouldn't have said anything all lan lansky wouldn't have gotten on edge and played worse than he normally does. If you don't think trying to make your opponent play worse is a viable strategy then again, maybe competition isn't for you. Have you considered picking up knitting?

HallowThe fact that it exists in sports doesn't mean it isn't fucking caveman behaviour.

What makes you the person that gets to determine that? You honestly sound like the most boring person on earth. Trash talk brings intensity to the game, if you want everyone to be friendly to each other maybe competition isn't for you.

potI feel like all of these people referencing sports haven't actually played any themselves. I played on pretty much every team that my elementary, middle, and high schools had to offer and I never once got shit talked nor did I shit talk anyone myself. Just because you're being competitive doesn't mean you suddenly forget how to conduct yourself in public. Even in university now I've never experienced shit-talk.

Ah, the classic "I've never experienced it so it doesn't exist" argument. Do you assume everyone else is just making it up when they say shit talk happens in sports? Yes you may not have experienced it but go look on youtube for any professional sport and you will find plenty.

Lucky_PierreBecause Autist describes a condition where you have issues with social interaction I'm not using it as a slur per se, merely a description.

I think this might be the worst post in tf.tv history. You've done it man, congratulations! I love how much effort you put in to try and justify using a slur, instead of just admitting to it like anybody else would.

truktrukKevinIsPwnmix^ yelled and talked more shit than the cs players. good on them for winning and everything, but harb calling people slurs at the top of his lungs was not a high point for tf2.harbleuJust to clear it up squid nor I said the n word all finals. Please don't spread lies Kevin. Great lan everyone. Hope we put on a good show.TaggerungI have returned home and I have to say
Shit talking is fine imo and watching the mix^ table going ham was a ton of fun to watch
However, there is a big difference between shit talking and yelling "Get the fuck out of my house niggers" and calling people "faggots"

I'm bringing this up because a marketing manager from BenQ was directly behind Mixup^ when the shit talking line was crossed...and he was very perplexed by the choice of words that were spoken.
narfhttp://i.imgur.com/y3qedYl.jpg

What was the point of this post? To try to prove that i said it? C’mon truktruk reading comprehension man. Did you not think someone else on the team might have said it? I did say faggot, and while i do understand that some people find it offensive i have never taken the word in its literal sense which i think is true for 99% of people. If tf.tv wants to make a big deal about that then they can go ahead, but knowing how much it knocked lansky off his game i would do it again any day. If im that invested into the game im going to do what extra things i can to help my team win. before lan i had multiple people tell me how much it used to get in banny's head, and with how quiet we were on saturday and how easily they rolled us i knew we had to keep our energy up and keep us hyped.

KevinIsPwnHey harb. Sorry if I misheard you or your voice. I was pretty sure I heard it from across the venue, sure enough to post about it, but I believe you when you say you didn't.

Mix^ had a great lan, congrats on the win and sorry.

No problem man, I assure you I didn't say it. All of my trashtalk was simply to get into their heads.
