#11 Hud Crosshairs in Customization

very weird. try this for your hudplayerclass.res instead. i literally just pasted your xhair into my hudplayerclass since mine works. this should help isolate the issue if nothing else. http://pastebin.com/pyH1RUNE

#9 Hud Crosshairs in Customization
jake_desif i use the character model, as soon as i turn it on with a different crosshair, i cant turn it off
regardless of the command, as soon as its entered into console, the image is always displayed

In hudplayerclass.res, make sure that visible is set to 0 and enabled is set to 1 under "classmodelpanelbg". If visible is set to 1 then it will stay visible once toggled.

#4 Tanlight? in Customization

that's very strange. if you give me a link to the most updated version you've found I'd be happy to update it for you if you tell me specifically what's missing. I also use 16:9, so won't be a problem at all. feel free to add me, won't clutter up the forums then.

#2 Tanlight? in Customization

if the scoreboard and meters are overlapping then it sounds more like a resolution problem than an updated problem. are you using a strange resolution? if it's not 16:9 or 16:10 or 4:3 it's probably not supported...

here's the most recent, not sure if this is the one you're talking about.

#5 main menu buttons in Customization

I'm an idiot: confirmed.

Thanks for the help!

Although I'm pretty sure PLAY isn't the quickplay thing you said but serverbrowserbutton. (quickplay is the right-facing triangle in the bottom row of symbol buttons.)

#3 main menu buttons in Customization
MagmaThere are buttons that can be defined in the mainmenuoverride.res that do not have to be defined in gamemenu.res, but I don't think I've seen it the other way around. Which buttons are you talking about?

For every button in the second picture that doesn't have an outline I couldn't find anything in mainmenuoverrride.res, maybe I'm an idiot though.

#1 main menu buttons in Customization

I'm trying to put a shadow behind the buttons on my edited version of yahuds main menu and am completely lost. My custom main menu background is very bright, and so to make them more legible I tried to add a black copy of the button behind them just like the health and ammo of every hud ever. All well and good, right?

http://i.imgur.com/k9XGdPI.jpg

Well, not so much. Seems like most of the main buttons are defined only in gamemenu.res and not in mainmenuoverride.res. I tried adding extra buttons in gamemenu.res but the result was the wrong font and wrong position, as should be expected. How are the buttons that don't appear in mainmenuoverride defined? To elaborate, where are their font definitions and positions?

MainMenuOverride.res
GameMenu.res
(as of second screenshot)

On a side but main-menu related note, which res file controls this menu?

Sorry for the new thread it's just that since doodle's and flame's hud guides are so tight-lipped on the subject of main menus I was hoping this would prove helpful to more people than me.

#1932 Show your HUD modifications! in Customization

holy shit ur a genius. i had no clue you could hud_reloadscheme a demo, although since i knew that recording a demo references the game files again (hence recording a demo can fix many bugs) i definitely should have. thats very helpful, thanks!

Is there an easy way to edit parts of the hud that are only visible for a small amount of time? ie winpanel, overtime label on the time limit, waiting for players, etc.

#2 Trouble with Fonts on Mac in Customization

I can't help you with most of this, however this specific version of handelgothic worked perfectly fine when i had a mac. If this specific version here doesn't work then you're probably defining it wrong in clientscheme.

#7 Seeker's crosshair in Customization

i don't personally have any font editing experience, sorry. you know about as much as i do now :P. googling free font editors and tutorials would be the way to learn. or maybe someone else would be willing to teach you.

#2 Seeker's crosshair in Customization

a lot of fonts are just straight up broken for mac. the only possible way to do anything about it is use a font editor to realign it. (besides partitioning, which is a great idea if you like gaming at anything slightly more than a casual level).
