VoloderI have a question about .vtf and .vmt files. To test it out, I made a purple triangle and converted it to test1.vtf and test1.vmt. I put them into my /custom/my_custom_stuff/materials/hud/ folder. In mainmenuoverride.res, I replaced the logo image (default is "../logo/new_tf2_logo/") with "/hud/test1" but I am getting the purple/black checkerboard. I've searched online for tutorials but can't seem to find any. Can someone instruct me on where to put your custom .vtf/.vmt files and how to declare them within the hud itself?
Custom vtfs are weird, one thing I would do first off is to put the test vtf and vmt in custom/*name*/materials/vgui/replay/thumbnails and reference that file path relative to materials ie /vgui/replay/thumbnails. That folder is never checked with sv_pure or anything so that eliminates the possibility of file path errors (credit to broesel for discovering this and SirVilleta + povohat (I think?) for introducing it to the masses). then make sure the .vmt is referencing the right file. that should be the only thing you could be messing up on, not sure.
omniIn addition to what Zimmy said, make sure "visible" is set to "0" by default on AmmoNoClip, AmmoInReserve and AmmoInClip. Those values cannot be hidden with visible set to 0 because they are, by default, hidden when not active.

However, reserve ammo seems to be set up correctly so I'm not sure why that part of problem persists, I guess it's possible it's something else.

but since i installed fluxhud the hudcrosshairs overlap with my custom crosshairs

so either turn off the hud crosshair in hudlayout.res or disable the in-game crosshair, if that's your question. or, if you're trying to ask why the hud crosshair is on top and you want it to be below the in-game one, change zpos under the crosshair element to -20.
these two articles helped me a ton with vtfedit quality settings if you haven't already seen them.

PS in the album I linked in the post above the image that appears behind the health cross is square, what do i edit to make the corners rounded? pretty sure i need to change src_corner_height/width and draw_corner_height/width in clientscheme, but under what border/how do i reference the border in hudplayerhealth? will that change the other image panels in my hud?
