#31 shit show in 35 mins (presidential debate) in World Events
Tino_Just a friendly remind but if you want out of this shit show the border to the north remains open right now. Not sure if that will remain the case after this is over, but for now it is.

why not the border to the south

#32 Looking for keyboard recommendation in Hardware

I have a Leopold tenkeyless with browns and it's held up great over the years, they've been replaced with Keyed Up Labs brand though and I'm not sure how they compare... they could be the same keyboards from the same factory for all I know (looks like the shape has changed slightly and they added switches on the bottom)

A bit more expensive than Corsair and CM Storm

#7 Steelseries firmware in Hardware

If anybody is curious I finally got an answer from Steelseries support (but it doesn't work)

It seems that Windows is the culprit here. When we issue a firmware update through SSE, we send a signal to the OS to put your device into bootloader mode. Windows 7, in particular, can have major issues with this step. Most of the time it will work perfectly, but there are instances when the OS has an issue. When the device goes into bootloader mode, it will always create a different PID, and Windows thinks there is now a new device installed. The OS tries to load a bunch of information for that PID, in the background, and will time out our firmware update.

To remedy this you can manually put your device into bootloader mode.

Rival 300:
1. Hold both of the side buttons + the CPI button simultaneously.
This will enter bootloader mode manually and allow you to update the firmware accordingly.

Rival 700:
1. Hold both Mouse4 and Mouse5 + the CPI button simultaneously.
This will enter bootloader mode manually and allow you to update the firmware accordingly.

Thank you for your patience with this! Have a great day!

First one is for a different issue (didn't work for me anyway), second one requires mouse to be recognized by computer

#33 Nixeus Revel in Hardware

What makes it better? Does it track better on more different surfaces, or have higher accurately tracking DPI range, etc? Just being realistic, I don't see how there could be any difference at all at low DPI on a cloth mousepad. Any optical sensor without accel, negative accel, smoothing or angle snapping should perform identically. Yet, there has to be some difference or else it would just be the same sensor.

What's the deal with the 3360 sensor? Is it actually any better than older flawless Avago/Pixart sensors, or just hyped because it's the newest one?

fade-jw, rival 100 or 300 or 700?

i have a 100 and u got me scared

the old Rival, I think they call it "Rival Black" in support now. I don't think flawed firmware was the issue, it just lost connection mid update and there's no way I can find to make my computer recognize it again

at any rate, if your mouse works fine there's absolutely no reason to update firmware (mistake I made)

#85 The Mouse/Mousepad Thread v2 in Hardware

Anybody know where you can still buy a real WMO?

e.g. are the ones from LIKETECH on newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826105099) authentic, or do you know a good ebay seller?

#1 Steelseries firmware in Hardware

My Steelseries Rival is now a brick that doesn't get recognized in Steelseries Engine 3 after a failed firmware update.

I've had a support ticket open for a week with no response.

Is there any way to force a firmware reset on steelseries mice? It's too old to RMA
