#84 Whitelist Discussion in TF2 General Discussion
bastidhttp://teamfortress.tv/thread/11550/esea-quick-fix-ruling/?page=1

The consensus was not as one-sided as you think. Players like Seagull and Platinum vouched hard for QF and made incredibly good points in its defense. On top of that, it's been a year and it hasn't been looked at once since the LAN.

and the "fun" argument is stupid

Man, re-reading that thread is painful. Too many strong feelings and not enough rational thought.

Both Plat and Seagull made good posts, but Plat included the provision of the QF needing a small nerf to be balanced in the meta. Which it still hasn't received.

Dropping Invite names isn't the best way to get your point across.

RadmanmanaIt's too good to not run to mid. Which means you actually end up making the meta worse. Can't you say the same about every other unlock or class that is run to mid in 6v6? Specifically the medigun.

Well, first, you have to clarify your question, because now you're questioning the whole format of 6v6 vs. the impact of an unlock (EDIT: this is a whole different discussion and it doesn't really fit in this thread).

Let's not forget that besides its effectiveness on midfights (and pretty incredible dominance on KOTH IMO), there are other problems with the QF too, especially being able to cap while using the QF uber (whereas the medigun ubered medic and ubered targets don't contribute to capping), as well as the self-healing while using a Quick-Fix uber (remember when clockwork ran sniper for half the game on gully? S14 LAN never forget). It's incredibly too good for midfights and is still a little too good for other fights (partially because of the fast healing, partially because of the speedy uber building). This means that you have to run QF to be on even footing, because ubers are practically useless against a QF. The only other play is to use kritz, and while it's perfectly fine to have kritz plays, the way it's used to counter QF (which is, basically, build kritz the whole time while just stalemating as much as you can, because overextending into a QF hold means death), promotes almost only 1 playstyle (incredibly passive).

I hope that is sufficient enough reasoning to point out why the QF is not a good change in the meta. If I'm wrong on something, please correct me; but I believe I have all my facts and mental probabilities straight. I'm all for having more unlocks, but everything should be looked at with a careful eye, and it's my firm belief that the QF as it is right now is not good for the meta.

#24 Gek LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)
Toastergr8 scout rude person

Toaster I hope you remember how you acted the first time you got banned LOL. Gek isn't rude, he just doesn't tolerate bullshit.

Really good scout, definitely IM quality DM and game sense. Funny kid.

He understands how aggression works in a team situation which seems to be rarer and rarer nowadays. Give him a tryout.

#5 Pocket - High Open in Recruitment (looking for team)

Dryillic is seriously upcoming talent. He's the man. I've met him at LANFest and since then we've been pretty good friends.

His DM has gotten absolutely exceptional this past season. Easily playoffs quality. And, like he said, he's relaxed and you will definitely have fun.

AutomatonI'm just curious, but what's the reasoning behind the Axtinguisher not being banned? I assume it's because pyro's not run a lot and if you let a pyro get that close it's because you screwed up, but it still seems dumb to allow a weapon that can deal 200 damage at will.

Even if Pyros are run a lot, melee'ing a target (who has to be on fire, by the way) requires the Pyro to have put said target into a melee-able spot (i.e. a corner, etc.), which is hard to do without dying for it. Sure, 195 is a lot of damage, but it's preventable by the opponent (except for rare niche situations I have never ever seen happen). The Ubersaw is a more powerful melee than the Axtinguisher, if we're talking about normal situations.

brandbrandallow pocket pistol so scouts can have 15 extra hp plz

Yeah, let's give one of the most powerful classes in the game more HP and overheal max with practically 0 downsides. Try learning at least SOME game balance.

Did something happen with the conch this season? I'm surprised by that.

#150 Twitch TFTV invitational ideas in TF2 General Discussion
LangeTwitchTVJohnTeam Yolotech: My brain hurts, and Lange doesn't know who is on that team either. Pls speak up! Lange is sorting out seeding because he's the best person in the world.
I searched this thread and the only time the word "yolotech" came up was in the list of teams, and I'm struggling to find an existing roster by that name. If this is your team please post a link to your ESEA/CEVO roster.

That's mason's team I'm pretty sure, unless they team aliased again.

Just throwing my 2c on some items (since I've had the same debate for some items in ETF2L):

- Southern Hospitality - the bleed effect is a good point but it's going to be incredibly rare for an Engineer to have to resort to melee over using the shotgun and/or pistol. Allow.
- Diamondback - sub-optimal and a niche situation weapon. Allow.
- Holiday Punch - same as the KGB; stalling isn't fun but it's more optimal to use the minigun anyways (or a shotgun in the even rarer situation of running out of ammo). And it's more optimal to use the KGB in that kind of situation regardless. Allow. Didn't realize it stunned ubered players, that's definitely not cool.
- Meet the Medic Taunt - I'm not sure how I feel about taunts in general (except the High Five, ban), the only huge problem with the Meet the Medic taunt is how much FPS it destroys, for everyone.
- Shred Alert - Same as above. I don't think being loud is a valid reason to ban it, but if it destroys FPS it should probably be banned (though I'm very sure it's not as bad as the Meet the Medic taunt).

Anything else, I don't really have any solid opinions on yet.

maidoswhy not include fundraiser for aussies too?
rather than sending 2 na teams why not send 1 na and 1 au if u want tf.tv to truly represent international tf2

Running even just one fundraiser is difficult enough.

Don't be racist. Why not have a fundraiser for the Asians, the South Americans, the South Africans, and each European country?

The audience of TFTV is primarily North American; it's the best way to go direct to the largest audience that this matters to. As much as it'd be lovely to have fundraisers for every viable region, I literally don't think you've taken more than 2 seconds to think about how much work that would be.
