#626 unpopular tf2 opinions in TF2 General Discussion

I can't believe anyone is still playing this game.

#27 The current state of newbie mixes in TF2 General Discussion
defyTurinI think that any player with above UGC-steel experience (silver+) shouldn't be a newbie because at their level, just playing in general is all that is needed. It should be for players with little to no experience, not advanced exp.
that's debatable...i think anyone that is UGC no matter what division is qualified for newbie mixes, they have a lot to learn if they haven't even touched ESEA yet

when we were running newbie mixes in the past the people that were playing in them had either lobby or no 6v6 experience. The types of people we would literally have to explain every classes role in the game, how the demoman gets to mid, who the medic should heal, etc. Basically these people were straight off Reddit. Mixing those types of people with people who even have a season of UGC doesn't seem like a good idea to me, and tbh misses the potential of what the newbie mixes could achieve. While UGC players no doubt could use a little coaching, getting brand new players into 6s is definitely the priority over improving the skill of players already somewhat into it.

#2 The current state of newbie mixes in TF2 General Discussion

props to you for still doing these pie. It was cool when I was doing these when they first started up, and even though we could get coaches back then I remember when Shwan and i would organize we would have a hard time getting them. It pretty much came down to having a lot of people on our friendslist and spamming everyone we could trust to coach to come out and do so. We had to try to strike a balance between having good coaches and enough coaches, it was hard. I dont really have any insight into how u can get more coaches except trying to get people with a lot of pull and sway in the community to start helping out and help will follow them. Good luck!

#22 Good AM3+ CPU For TF2? in Hardware

I have fx 8120 and have no problems with fps. I also streamed for casts with this and it did great. I certainly dont go below 120 in 6v6.

as long as they keep expectations extremely low they will never have to satisfy customers.

#22 ESEA Season 16 in TF2 General Discussion

it doesnt seem like esea has an incentive to merge IM/main since the main players have to pay more money anyways. seems like if two separate divisions is preferable to the season it should just be kept as is.

#10 Thoughts on CEVO match scheduling in TF2 General Discussion

in my experience thus far there is no point in adding matches to the schedule a week in advance since they wont get played until the following week anyways. Having the deadline be friday morning for both matches would allow you to schedule matches for the following week on friday and would open up one additional day to viably play matches.

Edit:

FogBlueberryVillainIt just seems like we are behind a week already from the get go. We have to cram in both of our week 2 matches like this monday and play our week 1 match tonight. I think that's kind of the issue, the schedule came out and teams were already late. Could you elaborate? Is this a scheduling issue on the site?

No, not a scheduling issue with the site. Its an issue with the way matches are assigned to teams and the days they are allowed to play these matches. Essentially the way it is set up forces teams to play matches on monday every week since it is the last day that is allowed to play that match on. It seems like we are "behind a week" because we are constantly pushing up against match deadlines imposed by CEVO for matches that would typically have 5+ more days to play.

#471 ESEA's possible demise? in TF2 General Discussion
enigmano he knows better than anyone else what's best for the game stop wasting your effortsrandomilehighmilitiathat's the point. It isnt about spiting ESEA. It is about bettering TF2 by getting out of a league that isnt good for us.
So we are leaving a league with bigger prize pots, a better anti-cheat and lan for a league with a shitty anti-cheat, small prizes and no lan. I don't understand how this is good for TF2 at all.

It is sort of irrelevant what each of us thinks is best for the game. All I am trying to point out is that the motivations from people on either side are the same - being the desire for the best possible future for the game we play. Obviously there is a lot of disagreement about that topic, but chalking the entire movement against ESEA up to people throwing a temper tantrum about bitcoins seriously misjudges the situation.

#461 ESEA's possible demise? in TF2 General Discussion

It has nothing to do with "sticking it to ESEA" or "getting back at ESEA" for some imagined harm caused by the bitcoin mining. The TF2 community cant "punish" ESEA for their actions because we are insignificant to them and they do not care about our business. What we can do is get out of this shitty relationship now before any more resources and time are wasted on a league that has consistently offered us a poor product for years. We are not trying to make ESEA be a better TF2 league by boycotting them until they fix their issues. We are severing all ties and looking for a future without them.
