honestly id prefer to have tf2 and its community as it is now than it become a multimillion dollar esport anyway
obviously people at the very top like banny would disagree because they want salaries to reward the intense work they put in, but most tf2, even very good ones have tf2 as a secondary in their lives
the people in that twitter thread(mostly randoms around 3k elo anyway) using arguments that tf2 is irrelevant just shows what happens to a community when it gets to big

theres nothing wrong with being a bad player
its just true that 99% of all players are bad, especially so in regions like the midwest or south (except florida) where the top prd players aren't even top 100
outside of top 100, there's probably around another ~50-100 players that are actually good, but can't go to nationals to show how good they are

locals are 99% garbage players with ~3 people that are decent and 1, rarely 2, that are actually good, that only show up for the free check
majors are fun to go with ur goons
pr means pretty much nothing unless ur top ~3 in a region, considering only about 100 players are actually good, and arcadian players in regions like norcal/socal would easily be on a pr in a weak region like nj or canada
can potentially be the least fun game of all time when u have to play dash dance camping marths w no neutral, falco or a ics/samus player
