Added time zones, stat links, places to put stv/demo links, fluffed it up all nice. Thoughts?

shitonmychestis it possible to add stvs up there when they go live? i remember when i first started playing i found the esea page to be atrocious to navigate and gave up a few times before i finally figured out how to view stvs
Can do!
Current suggestion include:
-Adding schedules for top IM matches
-Adding additional timezones (Euro and Australia zones)
harbleumix^ vs LG (the snakewater match we have pushed back 3 weeks) will likely be played on monday.
Thanks for the heads-up; you can message me at any time when the time gets confirmed.
I'll list possible changes/additions I can do for these schedules here: teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/819-weekly-match-schedules
DNJMaybe add a link to the demo after the match is done? I know that this is what ESEA does but if we could also have it here it would be awesome. Great job so far!
Links to ESEA stats includes a demo download, so that'll be included. I can include them for non-ESEA leagues as well if I can find them.
swiperHaving played a lot of newbie mixes this weekend, it seems like there are some very common mistakes or misunderstandings that newer players tend to have each time, and there isn't really time to explain all those things while you're playing or right after a game. I think it would be really helpful to create articles or videos going over these things...I mean some things you just need to learn from experience, but having concepts introduced or reinforced in an article or something might help them learn it faster.
Just off the top of my head I think it would help to go over things like obvious hiding spots, when/where to expect to get flanked, capitalizing on player/health/positioning advantages, how to get picks, not having your whole team cap a point, how to not play roamer like a pocket, going to health packs instead of your medic, when and when not to peek/take damage/go for risky plays, crit heals and heal priorities, where people should generally be holding at different points, basic positioning concepts and not giving up space for free, not being overly afraid of committing/dying, when/how to use kritz, where/when you should use uber and how to create a more favorable uber exchange, what classes to focus in different situations...
I'm not the most experienced player ever and I'm definitely no Sigma of TF2 insight, but I do understand a lot of those things (regardless of my inability to actually apply them when I'm playing sometimes lol) and could maybe attempt to write out some of them, in consultation with better players. I don't have a whole lot of time though, so it would take a while.
This would be great to have. Maybe the coaches could set aside a day where people can come into mumble and ask a bunch of questions?
mocha here, your resident writer and Tweeter for TFTV. I decided to take a shot at making an organized guide of sorts for upcoming matches and events during the week. Schedules are out there but navigating through some sites to find them (ESEA in particular) is not the most user-friendly experience.
teamfortress.tv/articles/view/50-weekly-match-schedule-sept-16-22
The article would be updated if a match gets rescheduled, links to post-game stats, changed win-loss ratios for teams, etc. Thoughts, suggestions, more hats? Would something like this help our spectators? Lay it on me.
EDIT: May also change name to something pleasantly cheesy but catchy if you have suggestions. TFTV Guide? Too vague?
An article would be fantastic but I think a video would be even more effective, especially when a video can directly show how competitively play works. It could be broken down into segments like a brief history overview, the roles of each class, etc.
A video like that would take way longer to produce, though, so it might be good to put out an article like ETF2L's anyway and then make videos from there.
kiriRandom low-level pub player's opinion here. My only real involvement with competitive tf2 is watching casts, demo reviews, commentaries etc of matches. If it were easier to find these things from tf2/steam itself more people would probably do the same. maybe there's a steam group i should be joining or something?
i'd love to get involved in newbie mixes or whatever but (a) i'm not good enough and (b) i don't have a mic. It'll probably be a long time until i can actually play competitive tf2. Like watching it though.
Obviously developer support (eg a scoreboard on the main tf2 menu listing results of recent matches and giving direct links to stvs or whatever) isn't going to happen although that would be nice, but at least knowing when casts are going to happen, where i can watch a game myself, etc would be nice.
Some steam groups you can check out:

A mic absolutely essential for playing competitively and communication will help you learn. Cheap mics are around if you look; you don't need the fanciest headset to start getting involved. In the meantime, you can ask players running pugs if it's okay for you to just spectate while in mumble - then you can get both game and communication experience. Everyone goes there to learn, so don't worry if you're unable to play on the same level - ask questions, listen to advice, and practice it in future games. It's better to play and learn something than to play and never learn anything.
I've also just completed a weekly schedule article listing match times for ESEA Invite and other leagues to be released every Sunday. Make sure to check back here Sunday morning, and you can also follow our Twitter for match updates: twitter.com/TeamFortressTV
A page/video/timeline explaining the history would be pretty interesting, and it would explain why and how the current competitive formats exist today.
VickMI'm just going to post what I've been doing, which has been starting up newbie mixes. If anyone wants to help, just message me on steam or here or wtvr. I'll make a post sometime about them if people want, maybe an official article
I can offer help with TFTV Twitter mentions or retweets/forum posts for whenever you guys schedule mixes.
If you have any events or important posts up (mixes schedules, reddit posts that you want upvotes for, etc), message me and I can put it on TFTV's Twitter to help get word out there. It's easy enough to use all the platforms out there; we just need to use them consistently.
I'm also thinking of doing weekly match schedule articles for this site so people can more easily see when match dates are coming. ESEA's site isn't the most user-friendly to find match schedules and dates change all the time, but I can put in the time to keep up with it.
Would love to write here too as CommFT is no longer with us. Any way to help out would be fantastic.
