Vim for long configs or logs, nano for simple scripts/text files.

ping -c 1 192.168.1.$i
done
This will just ping each address between 192.168.1.0 and 225 once and give normal output. From there, you can parse the output and decide if it's up or down.

By default, tf2mate binds the 1-9 keys to change class while shift is held down. My guess is that something messed with that so it isn't releasing it. You could find that and disable it.

This isn't at all like saying "I bought bread from the local supermarket once, that means I can legally take all the bread I want."
When you buy a game, you're essentially purchasing the right to use that data. Because it's data and not a physical object, then it doesn't matter where you get it (well, mostly), you still have the right to use it.

smobogame crashes if i try to play like that
If you try and force the game to use melee only yourself, it crashes. (boots+shield+loch in melee) Only works for me when the server/something else forces melee only. (beef steak, merasmus, etc.)
I fixed it by deleting/crafting the 'wrong' weapon in the melee slot.

Maybe because Valve made Spy do the backstab animation when crits are off, they also made backstabs to six times the target's health on stab (default when crits are on) instead of the previous two times the target's health.
EDIT: Running the numbers, the two spies in that game got an average of 724 and 995 damage per kill, so it certainly seems like this is the case.

You could try pinging a Dallas server first, (74.91.114.34 for example, I get a response from it)
CyberGhost is a pretty good free VPN provider in my experience.
