artisan is really good. the foam they use is really dense and provides really good even support.
typically, with the exception of plastic coated cloths like the zowie g-tf, cloth pads do not wear as fast as plastic/metal pads. they are also easier on your mousefeet too. this is why i have steered away from hardpads.
some people prefer the feeling of cloth to their skin instead of plastic/metal. some prefer the glide of the hardpads. i find that the artisans bring the quick glide of a hardpad to a cloth based solution using a texture weaved surface that kind of simulates the texture in hardpads.
the artisan has the speed i want from a hardpad, at the same time the stopping ability you get from a cloth pad.
