#96 ShaDowBurn’s Fundraiser in TF2 General Discussion
MattCVSo we are agreeing with each other then? Although I don't think that compromise is the exact correct word, depending on what your goals are for each or the three things.

I am obviously not suggesting that you can work a 5 day week, study on top and compete at the highest level of tf2 and I hope that came across before. I do think it is perfectly possible to work a Saturday / Sunday job study and compete at the highest level.

I guess we are agreeing with each other, but I don't find having an unqualified part time job on sundays and saturdays in Russia enough to pay for a $500 computer.

Mike doesn't really practise this season, and nobody is saying that it is actually impossible to study, work and compete all at the same time - you just have to prioritise and compromise, either on your mental health or your performance.

MattCVAgain people seem to think this is all about because I am mad about shadowburn getting help.

I have stated over and over my objection is that this is setting a bad precedent, first it was donation drives to get the two best American teams over to compete in the biggest international lans. Then it was for tftv staff to come and do there thing, then we had epsilon players along to be paid to go to dream hack now we have a prem player asking us to help buy him a new PC.

It isn't crazy for me to point how things are changing in regards to what people are asking for in these threads.

As to the poor =/= lazy debate that is a huge thing to go into and I cba when I am typing in a phone. Whilst in certain situations you are correct there are very very very man lazy people who live in my country do fuck all and sponge off handouts.

I only brought up working at 13 to point out the stupid comment that "getting a job at 17 is hard" which is not true if you are willing to work.

Don't see how any of these examples are outside the realms of what's reasonable. Yeah, it might shift the limits a little bit but why complain now if we hadn't had some proper dumb fundraisers yet.

Having a job
Studying
Competing at the highest levels of TF2

Pick two. It's absolutely impossible to find time to do all of these at once without burning you out. Especially in Russia, where $500 is worth a lot more because of low salaries. It's not like he is asking for us to pay for his vacation *cough* bash *cough*. He is asking us to cover the expenses of a new PC because you are physically unable to compete in the first place without one.

MattCVYou are a full time content created and from the small bits I have seen you seem to be extremely good at it.

I am assuming you do these things because you have a passion for the game and it makes you happy.

I am sure you also put this talent towards paid work? Plenty of people out there require this work.

I don't ask for donation drives for the happiness i get out of tf2, you don't do things in tf2 because you expect a monetary reward for it.

The point of fundraisers is to help cover expenses and not to earn money. Most people in this community have spent far more money playing tf2 and helping out the scene in some ways or other. Some people want to keep doing this but their personal economic situation makes it impossible. This scene would have been duller without SDB so it's not entirely unfair to ask for some money back. If you disagree, you have the option to not donate.

2 year contract? That's pretty insane, especially for a game that hasn't been released yet.

#82 TSU's issues with the fall classic in TF2 General Discussion
ninjanickAt no point during this entire thread do I say carter is ratehacking. Any edits that have been made have been added to the end of my posts. I would stop posting for your own sake since everything you're saying is either outright wrong or getting refuted immediately.

Then why did you use this argument if you don't think he was ratehacking. It would not be applicable if he didn't ratehack.

ninjanickESEA has rules against rate hacking and they would have been forced to get a sub if this was played in their league.

And I would stop biting the hands that feed you if I were you.

#79 TSU's issues with the fall classic in TF2 General Discussion
ninjanickLike we've already stated, we're not playing in another tournament that tsc is running. I'm glad that there are people like him willing to voluntarily run events, but we want no part in it due to our experience in this event. Whether or not you believe saying that publicly is wrong is your opinion I guess. People are gonna start scratching their heads when they see the #3 team not competing in events regardless.

And we never accused anyone of cheating. Carter showed symptoms similar to rate hacking and was unhittable. Froyo should have been forced to get a sub even if it was unintentional. That's the issue at hand.

Eh, you accused him in the original post of rate hacking, you didn't word it as "symptoms similar to rate hacking", you literally said that he was ratehacking. You only backed out of this claim AFTER you understood you couldn't prove that he actually was ratehacking, which I'm glad you did but at least admit your mistake.

And maybe there won't be a replacement for tsc, a lot of people wouldn't elect to run a tournament if they knew they had to deal with this unnecessary drama if something went wrong (which it most likely will do). Because honestly that is an overreaction if I've ever seen one, you are boycotting all future tournaments where this particular person is an admin because 1) he didn't let you reschedule, 2) he didn't force froyotech to use a sub. A lot of other tournament admins would have made the same decisions, so this sounds personal and irrational rather than an educated decision.

ninjanickWhy do you keep bringing up casting. This was scheduled to be played at the same time as ascent vs froyo. Everyone knew for a fact that it wasn't being casted. Dilusive was the only one who needed to be available at the time of the match in case of any issues with the razer website since we were playing on razers platform. It's as simple as playing the match and reporting a score, which even the platform does for you. Noone needs to "go out of their way" for anything.
Ond_kaja Also, why would they cast a match when you apparently had a shit roster on the day.
Lol we won with that "shit roster". If anything it made the game closer and more enjoyable to watch. That's not even the point.

Then I guess the problem is that the tournament admin didn't want to reward teams for being unorganized, and not being able to show up on appointed times. A decision like that sets a bad precedent, what if other teams wanted to do the same thing? You would either have to allow everyone to reschedule or not allow anyone to reschedule, just to be fair to the teams. Again, it's your responsibility to show up with a roster on the day, if you can't tough luck. But it's you and your team's fault, not the tournament admin's fault, and you haven't even admitted that yet.

But this isn't even the main issue, the issue is that you are being extremely antagonistic towards someone publicly, who has spent an incredible effort organising this tournament completely voluntarily. Hiccups and questionable decisions happen in the biggest of tournaments with the most experienced tournament admins, but you don't see any big teams publicly shitting on everyone involved in the tournament (unless it's gamer paradise tier) and accusing other players of cheating without a shred of evidence. That's the definition of self destructive behaviour and only drives potential ambitions AWAY from the scene.
