#1 Open Team LF Scouts/Pocket for S14 in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hey kids, after the super-fun time that was DeRobert and the Cs in S13, v3kz and I are looking to make a new cool team for S14.

We're looking to try out a whole bunch of scouts and pockets in the next couple of weeks and make a decision. We are ONLY looking for scouts at this point.

Hit me http://steamcommunity.com/id/o_w_l or v3kz http://steamcommunity.com/id/v3kz up if you're interested. Tryouts will start Sunday.

EDIT: Goal of this season is 10/11 wins and to be in contention for playoffs.

EDIT2: WE ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR ONE MORE SCOUT! you must enjoy capping points.

Family does play an extremely important role, but I'd say that about half of kids today (at least in the US) don't have a properly supportive home life/family, and the correlation between kids who are bullied and those with poor home lives is really high.

#2 LFT productions looking for scout frag clips! in TF2 General Discussion

so we're making frag clips and you're compiling them into one video?

I may be off the mark here because I don't make videos but isn't like 80% of the frag video process doing what you want with the .dem?

I watched this video once, then watched it again because I was confused and thought I missed something, so thanks for wasting a full minute of my life.

As someone who works in a middle school, where a lot of bullying really starts to ramp up beyond name calling, this hits pretty hard.

Makes me think of the 8th grader who's a little bit effeminate and has been called every homophobic slur that I know and some that I don't, who gets pushed around in the hallways, who deals with it every day, never once responding to anyone's face, but sobbing uncontrollably when he finally makes it down to the counselor's office.

Or the practicing Muslim who gets called a towelhead to her face, who has had her hijab forcefully ripped off her head by numerous students.

This shit happens, and while this was a mildly melodramatic reading, it's all true. We've had three kids attempt suicide this year, all as a result of bullying. Middle school kids, wanting their life to be over just 12-13 years in because every single day is filled with a litany of insults and hate speech.

Blaming the victim in bullying cases is one of the most reproachable things I've seen people on this website (or anywhere) do. Are you expecting the pudgy 9 year old who gets made fun of to go out and exercise until he fits the concept of what looks 'normal'? Or the girl with the birthmark on her face to go get cosmetic surgery? What the hell is wrong with you?

I apologize for getting on a soapbox here, it's just that I see this shit every single day and I'm mostly powerless to stop it.

#49 ESEA and Maps: A proposal in TF2 General Discussion

I don't think it's worth sacrificing competitive balance for the sake of keeping new players happy. I'm all for growing the community, but if someone can't be bothered to download a couple of maps that are essentially the same as the ones they played in pubs, they probably won't stick around long anyways.

#23 Is the Scottish Resistance Viable? in TF2 General Discussion
HardcoreYou could run it to Gully mid if you wanted maybe. Its still borderline useless though.

fast rollout wouldn't work with the ScoRes

You might be able to do snakewater with it since you can see each jump ahead of time and put a sticky there.

you could also trap up high AND spam across at the combo effectively at snake mid. Might have some situational use there but would be terrible pushing 2nd if you won the mid.

#23 ESEA and Maps: A proposal in TF2 General Discussion
kirbyTurboliciousWait how? Pocket and scouts are same speed either way they go since they're just running. Roamer is only as fast as the med who's running. And demo can be same speed from either side.
Imagine the medic, roamer and a scout spawn near the right while the demo, pocket and other scout spawn left. The pocket can just equalize left, the demo might still be able to get 260 before he jumps to second (I say might because I've never tried), the scout on the left would have to change to the right side in order to get any type of buff or wait in yard like the pocket, which takes more time than if everyone went left. The roamer wouldn't be affected by buffs, but I think it takes longer to do a jump from the right side of last and the fact that it's harder than the left side to get an effective jump that lands you right by the door without being stopped by the ceiling above.

Assuming perfect jumps, the only one who's slow here is the scout that spawns away from the medic, if he comes for a buff. The demo can jump from left to right then jump to the right garage door at the same speed he'd be able to jump to the left one. It's a little tricky to get under the overhang but even if he jumps to the back edge of the door he'll be no more than a second slower. The roamer has the hardest job, as jumping off the waist-high wall instead of tires is tough, especially when you have to get over the tire/barricade in yard AND under the overhang, but the next jump through garage is a bit easier for most roamers who jump from the right.

The pocket equalizes like normal, no change for him. The right scout runs to mid like normal (except entering 2nd on the right). The left-spawning scout has to either run to the right through spawn or across yard on last from left to right in order to meet up with the medic for a buff. It's a loss of about 2 seconds or so, but it does allow the roamer to skip jump into garage without the med losing a heal target.

The real problem is that spawns are so random that you can't really practice every possible rollout to perfection and everyone just goes left because it's default.

The only time a split rollout could be a problem is if both scouts spawn opposite the medic and lose those couple of seconds crossing to meet him. Both scouts being late to mid can be disastrous if their scouts +forward.
