#4 does anyone know anything about blood clots? in Off Topic

I think it's called Deep Vein Thrombosis - and if it reaches the heart unchecked then it can cause severe breathing problems or death if untreated. It sounds like you guys got to it pretty quickly. Treatments range from medication to surgery - and there's even a chance it heals itself.

Most DVT patients are rushed to an emergency room - as your brother was.

If this is a clogged artery, then it could be this: http://www.ehow.com/about_5397746_clogged-leg-arteries.html

They call this PAD.

I wish your brother the best of luck.

#21 ESEA News looking for Writers in TF2 General Discussion

Are you looking for division-specific writers? Some people will have a very good grasp of Open/IM/Main/Invite in particular and may want to do more specific content for a target audience.

A player in the much smaller IM or Main divisions is going to have a LOT of inside knowledge and intimate relationships with the other teams/players in his/her division. However, this same person may know next to nothing about Open or Invite.

Insider content is what ESEA News lacks in my opinion. I agree with the recommendations made in this thread.

#13 Medic LFT Start/Backup in Recruitment (looking for team)

She keeps a cool head when things go south. She's a friendly person to talk to that has a mature attitude. There are some things I feel she could work on, but I believe that she's perfectly capable of taking the next steps as a player.

Good luck, pascal.

#22 Arsenal Sign Mesut Ozil in Off Topic

Madrid BADLY overpaid for Bale, and now they're selling Mesut (who played well in a white shirt) in a desperate attempt to curb the costs. I just don't see how that Madrid team is going to work with TWO ball-needy wingers playing opposite of each other. Spurs made BANK from the whole Bale situation, and they will be able to replenish their entire side with the money they received.

Spurs also made a NICE signing in acquiring the service of Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen. He's a young AM that will serve that club very well. Spurs have done very good business in the past two calendar years - and will have a young core of Lamela, Eriksen, Vertonghen, and Holtby to build around. Picking up Lloris from Lyon was also a NICE signing that helped answer the question "who is the future at GK for Spurs?".

Spurs might huff and puff for 4th, but no one can fault them for a lack of effort.

#28 LFT Medic in Recruitment (looking for team)

Who still plays medic at an IM or above level these days? CHE's a pretty rare guy right now as there are so few medic mains in today's game.

In fact, CHE's extra rare even amongst other medics in that he's not a converted pocket soldier. He's a proper "career medic".

I don't know how he hasn't been picked up yet.

He's plenty good enough to fit in the new IM. I haven't seen him in awhile, but I've only had good experiences with him as a player in the past.

\.=. (wasn't this an old team tag of yours?)

#56 ESEA Vote for New Map in TF2 General Discussion

cp_gravelpit was a rite of passage for many Open teams - it taught us as players to push as a unit and synchronize bombs with other actions across the map. These principles (among others you learn when scrimming and playing matches on the map) apply in all aspects of TF2.

We all hated the map for our own little reasons, but we sucked it up as a community and worked through it. It was a tough team-building exercise for new teams - regardless of skill level.

I think that we're cheating newer players of the cp_gravelpit experience. It's a not a fun one, but I find that it's very important and can tell you a LOT about your team.

Want to think you're bigger than everyone else in the server? Enjoy that 12-9-25 k/d ratio, and have a nice day with that 0-2 loss to a team you think you're "better than".

#22 Scout LFT IM in Recruitment (looking for team)

I've been around this guy maybe 3-4 times, and each experience was generally positive in terms of personality.

I was going to type out a long essay on what I like about his play, but I'll just keep it simple and say that he's a straight upgrade over a lot of the scouts that will be playing in the new IM. I'm getting more and more confused as to how he hasn't found a team yet.

#20 watt lft starter/backup in Recruitment (looking for team)

He's a pretty sound scout and a good guy to chat with. His sniping ability is just outright fucked up. I hope that I don't have to deal with THAT ever again. He probably should be playing in Main next season.

#10 Clam S15 in Recruitment (looking for team)

Wu-Tang Financial <3

Really sweet guy to play with. He's still growing as a player, and doesn't have any attitude issues to hold back his growth. His aim is decent and he's picking up the ability to read a game. It's a shame that The Fashion Police died.

I'd say that he'd be A-OK trialing at the new IM level.

#12 ESEA S15 NA Main Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

"Expected top open"? I've seen many teams in that category play the actual season and go 9-7 or 10-6.

Maybe I'm going to be wrong, but I don't see Killing moving up non-playoff teams into a higher division. That would be breaking their own fundamental rules as outlined in regards to IM and Main divisions in all games.

Why not this:

10 Invite
10-16 Main (best available IM teams willing to go up)
18-24 IM (IM survivors + promoted Open teams)
70+ Open

This layout would be more balanced in my opinion.

#8 ESEA S15 NA Main Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion
Benk#6

At least they can say like "we are planning on taking the x-y spots from IM, and the 1-z spots from open into main." Of course it wouldn't be set in stone but it would give borderline IM/Main teams an idea of what to be expecting.

1. The x-y condition is dependent upon the results of IM playoffs AND the status of S15 Invite.

2. The 1-z condition is dependent upon how many Open teams actually move up. Keep in mind that there are 3+ teams each cycle that either die and/or do not promote themselves due to other issues.

Let's say you took the top 8 from IM and then the next four from Open. That gives you 12. The "new IM" would then consist of 8-9 promoted teams + the 4-5 non-playoff IM teams. IM would be only 2-3 teams bigger than Main - which may or may not be a good thing.

Would killing be ok with:

10 teams in Invite
10-12 teams in Main
13-16 teams in IM
65-90 teams in Open

...only he can answer that question.

#6 ESEA S15 NA Main Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion
QuesCan the admins chime in and let us know which teams are headed to main and which aren't?

They really can't right now for three reasons:

1. IM playoffs are still underway - we don't know which team is getting bumped up to Invite via winning the IM division.
2. Teams with standing IM rosters will die/reformat in the offseason.
3. Playoff Open teams need to decide whether they're going up or not - and not all of them are going to bring a new roster into IM.

There were about 7 IM teams that died mid-season. BIG BOYS just recently closed up shop and are not going to play next season under their roster. That means we have 17 remaining teams in IM. Let's say 15 of those 17 properly reformat or survive to S15. Now factor in that there will be about 1-3 teams that are cannibalized/called-up to fill out a 10 team Invite.

At this stage you're left with about 12-16 IM teams - and maybe 13 Open call-ups. There are a few ways Killing can draw the line here based on what we know now.

Both IM and Main are going to be very small, intimate divisions in which everybody knows everybody.

#199 Quick-Fix in 6s? in TF2 General Discussion

If there are 10 invite captains, how many votes will be needed to force a ban? I'm wondering how the votes will go now so that I can prepare for life with/without quickfix.

Incredibly committed to improvement. I enjoyed playing with him at pittco quite a bit. May I ask what happened with BIG BOYS?
