#1 Max viewers on stream> in TF2 General Discussion

In all the shenanigans today, I never got a chance to see what the max number of viewers was this weekend - anyone know it?

#15 Favorite LAN quotes? in TF2 General Discussion

When Plat detted shade to win the champs, Ruwin yelled out:

"You gotta pop it, snowflake!"

Hilarious.

#17 in b4nny we trust in TF2 General Discussion

Ironic how Spacewhales picked the one map a Demo could truly take over no matter how much he was targeted, and how inconsistent his support may have been. That being said, I think we were all blown away by how complete a game b4nny played.

I enjoyed his intentional misspelling of "dog".

#26 Thanks for your hard work in TF2 General Discussion

I wish I could properly accept the thanks being thrown out, but today's situation with the SourceTVs not getting posted, not being auto-assigned properly, not freaking staying up... it's a failure on our part at ESEA, and although they've (hopefully) been sorted out now, and were just in time for two really excellent TF2 matches today, it's still somewhat disappointing to be blind-sided by a pretty random issue of the main page not being refreshed properly.

My apologies to the Chess Club guys, who were the unfortunate victims of our issues and had both of their Granary stints go uncasted. I'm about 95% sure the STV recorded the matches at least, so those will be out post-LAN.

What I've learned in covering this, my 4th or 5th LAN, is that no matter how much pre-planning happens, something always comes up. Last LAN it was the STVs cutting off the last 2 minutes (which, thank god, has indeed finally been fixed), this time it was.. well, anyway.

I want to throw out a massive thank you to Killing, who was right there with me struggling to sort out those issues, and was just as much if not more a part of solving all that.

Best of luck to both teams tomorrow, should be a freaking fantastic Grand Final :)

#17 after LAN Preds in TF2 General Discussion

Oh god, please tell me b4nny won't be joining the new mix^ - LeBron already joined the Heat, the world doesn't need a repeat superteam thing.

#149 ESEA-Orang-eXplosion in TF2 General Discussion

A disappointing issue that I think, more than anything, stems from a bunch of miscommunication and one helluva lot of passion to do the community right but in somewhat different directions.

The fact that his video sparked so much debate - and, let's point out, pretty healthy and honest debate you wouldn't see in ANY OTHER ONLINE COMMUNITY (could you imagine this debate on a CS forum? *shudder*) - can't inherently be a bad thing.

#59 ESEA LAN onsite stuff in TF2 General Discussion

Hot tip: Do as much as you can Friday evening / night, because Craig / myself will be hounding your asses all day Saturday to get all the matches in. Also, let's try and actually get footage of the Brazilian BBQ extravaganza Sunday night, I don't think people fully realize yet that it's really the best part of the LAN.

Seriously, fuck the money - it's all about that Braz BBQ.

EDIT: Looking forward to seeing you punks again :)

#47 Obama president again! in TF2 General Discussion
TrekkieBLoodSireObama now leading in the popular vote. Electoral college in his favor 290 to 201, but is the EC necessary?
No, your system is even stupider than ours.

Agreed, first past the post is such a freakin' joke... but it's better than EC. I don't understand why every state doesn't just do what Nebraska and Maine do - award EC votes based on congressional districts.

Also, not to shit on Bloodsire, it but was amusing to see people (ie. Donald Trump) bitch about the popular vote before all of Cali was even counted... soon as Texas was done and Romney was only up by 2-3% or so, BO had it in the bag.

Whatever side you're on, you gotta admit BO gives a damn good speech.

#26 Relationship help? in Off Topic

I hate to sound like a all-knowing old guy, but the facts are you're quite young, and should maybe focus on the more immediate problems in your life than entangle yourself in something as (legally) significant as marriage to leave the country and have a fresh start. If your current home situation is bad enough that you need a way out as soon as possible, I would do further research into a work visa - Canada is somewhat more reasonable about handing those out, and if searching for a crappy minimum wage job in a foreign country is better than living jobless with your grandparents, then so be it.

But obviously, since there's this sudden 2-year wait, you're not posting this looking for logistical help on escaping your current living conditions and lack of a job market - as you said, you're asking for relationship advice.

Again, you're both very young - I hate to be a debbie downer, but the odds are against you that you've found a young male who is able to completely overcome the period of retardness that afflicts us all between the ages of 15-24. Seriously, 90% of guys in that age bracket are going to be morons, and even the nice, earnest ones are going to get in over their heads sometimes. Yes, there are exceptions, blah blah blah, but if you struggle with reading people and catching social cues, you need to play the odds... and the odds are he's pulling away from you, even if its subconscious and he doesn't even realize it.

I'll admit, that's a pretty harsh way of looking at it, but my point is that you can't remain immobilized by his current demeanor and the emotional turmoil that comes with it - since, really, there isn't much you can do about it until he either makes a change or opens up.

In the end, you're not really going to know until more time passes, since obviously you confronting him has just led to more fights. It sucks, but that's life - you're going to find as you grow up that often you just have to let some time pass before an answer presents itself. So, if you can't do anything about it anyway, again I say try finding something to focus on in your immediate surroundings - as much as to distract you from the emotional turmoil he's causing as serving a purpose.

The ball is pretty much entirely in his court right now, and there's not much you can do about it.
