#751 MAJOR TF2 update for 6/18/14 (6/19/14, Love & War) in TF2 General Discussion
clorgRadmanHow are new players supposed to know that airbursting is a thing unless people tell them? or that stickies that are laid for traps have full damage independent of ramp up if they let the stickies stay on the ground for a while (it actually worked like this before the update)?
You can test if you can air burst within 3 seconds of switching to demoman, you can't do that with a damage rampup mechanic. I'm sort of confused by the second part of your question as there was no damage rampup pre-update at all.

Demo Stickys are subject to fall-off damage based on distance in the first 5 seconds, after that they do the full basedamage.

like even pre-update the most damage you could do, long-range (in the first 5 seconds) was 60.

#5 Powerline Ethernet in Hardware

I don't really have experience with powerline and gaming/streaming, but if you are not going to do any internal networking there is probably no point to invest extra on 500Mbit adapters.

That is assuming your internetspeed will be the bottleneck (I bet it doesnt exceed 100mbit)

EDIT:

Wire would be ideal obviously, you could check if there is some old telephone wire (CAT3) in your room, that should be sufficent to get 100mbit.

Legend has it that some German produced the original, I just made it a bit more readable and changed some cosmetic stuff.

#8 Looking for WiFi Extender help. in Hardware

wifi extenders that receive and send wirelessly will half your bandwidth.

You should go powerline if there is no way to get a proper cord to your router.

Even with old Cat3-cable (some old telephone-line maybe?) you could probably get a stable 100mbit connection, depending on distance.

#44 Add IRC to your TF2 in Customization

Maybe I just don't get it, but what is the benefit to just opening the webchat through the steam overlay webbrowser?

When I read the title I was hoping for something like this tbh: http://home.scarlet.be/~rt022830/steamirc.htm

#4 New SOAP dm server in TF2 General Discussion

You could use this: TF2Items

...to add the "max pipebombs decreased" attribute to stickybomb launchers other than the Sticky Jumper.

sorry I meant to post this here: http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/15454-how-do-i-limit-the-demomans-stickies

#41 /r/tf2 in TF2 General Discussion

I never believed in the concept, that if the comp scene changes format/allows all unlocks, that suddenly we would see a huge influx of what used to be pubbers.

If that was the case HL would be huuuge (although i guess that is getting more restricted every season, but still)

I mean if someone truly wants to "compete" he is not going to be stopped by not being able to use X Weapon.

Remembering back when I was "just" pubbing...I wanted to win the rounds and get better which resulted in me picking the appropriate class for the next obstacle to overcome -> I was playing either Demo/Solly 90% of the time and very rarely and only for specific situations what we use as offclass in 6s.
That is not because I just preferred those classes, but rather as time went on I understood that I have to play those to have the maximum impact on the game.

Now there weren't as many unlocks back then, but the same applies to loadout, If you want to win and have an Impact, you're not going to play Demoknight or jump around trying to market garden people or whatever. You'll realise that the sticky launcher is still the best weapon in the game.

On a side note: If I started playing today, I really doubt I'd have sticked around. The game was already confusing back then (coming from FPS games that were hitscan only and didn't have different classes) but now, Pubs are such a clusterfuck with all the different weapons, seems impossible to tell whats happening as a beginner.

#153 ETF2L North American Division in TF2 General Discussion
WARHURYEAHThe good thing with ESEA is that there was a zero tolerance rule in some areas, with ETF2L all the admins just seem scared to make a decision (Nations cup final, Sweden get ddos, Germans take default, admins do nothing to reschedule game)WARHURYEAHAllowing a team to take a default win in a very big match to me is stupid, an admin could have just said "reschedule this, take extra precautions" but no, everyone showed up to watch a game with Sweden vs. Germany and we got fuck all, on top of that we had the giant swe vs. ger fallout without any admin support. I'm not praising the ESEA way in zero tolerance 100% but it areas it is very good, match scheduling in ETF2L is a giant pain in the fucking arse because team can just fuck up schedules with retarded Wildcard usage, I'm not saying it's good in all areas but ETF2L really needs to adopt a more strict policy that actually benefits team making the effort.

I think that is the worst possible example for your case, because imho zero-tolerance/stricter rules would have been exactly that: schedule stands, match has to be played, if Sweden can't play, their problem.

#41 ESEA Settles Bicoin Mining Lawsuit in Esports
Digresser...
(OH GOOD, THE VICTIMS WILL BE COMPENSATED WITH THE SWEET KNOWLEDGE THAT NEW JERSEY WILL AVENGE THEM BY ADVOCATING THEIR PRIVACY. THAT'S A THOUGHT THAT WILL KEEP BETRAYED PLAYERS WARM THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT-NO WAIT, SORRY, THAT'S ACTUALLY THE HEAT OF THEIR MELTING GRAPHICS CARDS.)
...

seriously? What did you expect? that the ESEA Userbase gets money? for what?

If you(or anyone for that matter) felt like you deserved compensation because your Hardware was damaged (or whatever), you should have sued them yourself.

#71 tf2 quake dm server in TF2 General Discussion
wrechedddddhey mike thanks for the input. ive heard 5v5 was too cluttered from a few people but you made some really good points. i changed server #2 back to 10 slots, and ill be watching which one appears to be more popular.

i also added two new map arenas to the rotation: theveryendofyou and spacetower, both based off of a final stage of quake3. rtv and nominate functions are now both fully functional. i am trying to add a whitelist however the esea one only works with mp_tournament mode set to one :( anyone know of any good one i can run on non-tournament servers?

If you run TFTrue you can use whitelist and classlimits without mp_tournament 1

#13 ESEA Client in TF2 General Discussion

thanks! I'll try that PUG server thing

Another thing I found, which is VERY interesting for EU folks.

modifying LOD-Bias through your GFX drivers is apparently not allowed.

Does the Client also warn for that or will you just get banned?

That is kind of common pratice in euroland.
