yak404What would happen if all LAN qualifying teams just refused to show up because of the scandal?

I mean ESEA can't just ignore a move like that

I do agree with most of the posts so far. I think what ESEA has done should be an unforgivable crime in the eyes of the users. If people want to boycott the league in the future, I will happily stand behind that decision, but skipping the current LAN will do nothing except cause ESEA to pocket the $14,100 prize pot.

Maybe the two LAN teams other than Mixup and iT should forgo the LAN. Third place breakdown is only $423 per person, so that team will likely not break even with LAN fees, and fourth place is only $270 per person, so it's unlikely anyone will even come close to breaking even there. The community will still see the big two duke it out. Our prize money can go to Mixup and iT who can get extra shitfaced with the extra cash. Then 12 of us get banned next season for dodging LAN and the ESEA destruction catalyst will have its roots firmly sown. 8)

I like how the CS players on that post are all saying things like, "wow, seems fair." and "hope you don't have to pay the full amount!"

Ugh.

harvestWait, I don't understand. Does this mean that ESEA is still currently running this system monitoring computers and taking bitcions to this day? Or was this an issue during Spring/Summer and the client is updated and no longer has this system on it.

It is likely that their code was removed through an ESEA client update after they were caught. It is not 100% certain that this is the case. If you want to be certain, save your pertinent files, wipe your HD, and re-install windows.

Nobody should have to 'buy a new windows key' like kissme suggests. There are freeware tools that will allow you to extract your key from your current OS (make sure you do that before the wipe if you don't know your current key).

They installed code with the client. The code would have been undetected by anti-virus most likely, unless something randomly picked it up on heuristics. Removal would have been accomplished by a format / reinstall of windows.

Uninstalling the client wouldn't have stopped it from monitoring you. :<

#66 Awkward conversations you've been a part of in Off Topic

Went on a date right out of HS with a girl who was a freshman in college. Things went well and she invited me back to her place. We get to her room and things heat up on the couch. In the midst of everything, her roommate who was supposedly not home walks out of her bedroom, headed to the kitchen. I immediately recognized the roommate. It was my sister. We did not stop. It wasn't all that awkward for me at the time, you know, because of the whole "18, horny and stupid" thing, but I'm sure it was super awkward for her.

Also, when I was 17, I was dating a girl who was 16. I had been to her home several times and met her entire family. I got along well with them and they all seemed to like me as well. One day, I went to her house after school and her mom let me in. Her mom told me that she was taking a shower and I could wait in the bedroom. The bathroom was inside the bedroom, so I tapped on the bathroom door and announced my presence. I was sitting on her bed waiting for her to finish up in the bathroom when her sister walked out of the bathroom and through the bedroom stark naked while smiling at me. This should have been one of those cool stories ending in a three-way with two sisters, but the sister was 12, so the whole situation was incredibly awkward for me. The girl I was dating was downstairs doing laundry. Ugh.
