If it's an issue with the server like botmode said it might be, you can try asking the server owner to change which region the server is in to try a different one.
I think b4nny said the reason was that Yomps seemed like he really wanted to play soldier and the team also just played better that way

I used the Base jumper a lot in HL before it was nerfed and it was a fucking dumb item to play against.
unless you are in a tiny enclosed space, any fight with another soldier you have is almost a free win because you surf his rocket into the air and deploy your parachute and now he has an extremely more difficult shot to make to kill you while you're fairly safe in the air and can easily spam multiple rockets from above. This is still possible, but now you're basically a sitting duck in the air and it's a lot easier to get hit.
Even when you were not fighting a soldier, you could easily jump into a flank and deploy it high in the air. From that position, everything that isn't a heavy or sniper is doing less damage to you than you are to them (so nobody on the flank and not any 6s classes) and if you miss your rockets or more people come and the fight doesn't look good, you can very easily just turn around mid air and float away. This part of the Base jump you can no longer do since your air control is so hampered when you have it out now.
It basically gave you so much control over any flank that has any decent amount of open space without giving up much and it was REALLY easy.
MalloryAFAIK there is an equal number of admins from each geographic region that are invited and are present at the global whitelist meeting. Each of those admins are tasked with speaking with their player base in whatever capacity they find to be most productive, and provide feedback on the whitelist based off of those conversations. Aoshi is only speaking for ETF2L because that is his league and what he is most familiar with, but at the whitelist meeting he is just one of Europe’s representatives interacting with admins from Australia and NA, and there is absolutely no preferential treatment for ETF2L’s opinions. Aoshi just happened to be the one who agreed to represent the admins to the community with the whitelist, which is why it appears as if his voice is the most dominant.
I'd like to hear where you heard this from. What me and many other players were told was that 1 admin from NA (there is only 1 really) was pulled in to have a conversation with what was mostly Europeans who seemed like they had basically already figured out what they wanted to do. At the time I was told this, no NA team leaders were asked for opinions or even told of the meetings existence until after it already happened.
It's lame that NA got shafted out of much input into the whitelist this season because I see literally no reason for the new pyro weapons to be banned, but we agreed to just deal with it for this season and make sure it didn't happen again.
A classic, even my non tf2 friends enjoy this video.
edit: I pressed the edit button and it posted twice, so I guess here's some crack clan comms.
