#26 Loose Cannon in TF2 General Discussion

i'm very much against it. it feels random how it knocks you back, sometimes juggling you into a forced double donk while the bomb sit next to you or preventing you from dodging the next hit. sometimes it sends you flying backwards, but the bomb flies backwards too so you get double donked by that.

something i'd like to emphasize:

The Loose Cannon fires explosive, glowing cannonballs that travel at approximately 1811 Hammer Units per second (roughly 77 mph), 50% faster than the Grenade Launcher's projectiles.

not a lot of people seem to realize this

#13 rollout thread in Videos
Nub_DanishsmoboPhunkOh shit I didn't see that this was a necro

Whatever
in the rollout he posted, you get a lot more speed coming out of the choke than the regular roamer fast rollout. you would basically land in their choke with ample time to reload mid-air
If you hit the regular fast roll-out well enough you can land in the enemy teams choke or sewer door(as he did in the video) so there is no benefit,

I can do the fast rollout fairly consistently to get to their kit or on top of mid, but I don't think I've ever gotten as far as that video. My bad.

#21 Sigafoo leaving EVL TV in TF2 General Discussion

For the record, the two EVL staff members I've personally dealt with (Jeeringsole and Yoshi51) have been helpful and friendly in my dealings with them, over Steam and in Mumble. Their server business runs very well, and their casts have been great.

I hope this is an unfortunate miscommunication, because all the good EVL is doing (server discounts for comp, battle royale, and casting) paints a different picture than how they treated Sigafoo.

#73 So I went onto UGC today...... in TF2 General Discussion
harbleuDigresserNo one in this thread is saying that they approve of axio's actions, but some of us are of the opinion that ridiculing him further accomplishes nothing positive and could cause actual harm. He's fleeing the community crying, tail between his legs—why does anything else need to be done? If he one day returns the ball in his court to make things right, but for now we'll all be better people if we just let it go and move on.Do you expect me to just be okay with him harassing my girlfriend over the past year? Maybe for people who were less involved in it they could be more willing to forgive. I don't think anything more needs to be done, but I think trying to forgive him for the way hes acted by saying he has some mental problem is wrong. As clockwork said without knowing more about him you can't say for certain if he does have some disorder making him act the way he has. I just don't believe him crying for 5 minutes in a video deserves the community to absolve him or feel sympathy for the way hes acted for the past year.

Pretty much this. Getting a doctor to diagnose you with "Chronic douchebaggery" doesn't suddenly make you less of a douchebag.

I respect the idea of putting it behind us and leaving him alone, but considering him in any way a victim is ridiculous.

#66 So I went onto UGC today...... in TF2 General Discussion
xoa little off-topic, but for some reason, I got called out by a ugc admin in that thread (im xenith, read it at the bottom to second to last page) for telling Axio "false information", considering that I never said that before in my life to anyone (wasnt even aware of the rumor). The admin locked the thread before he could even respond to me asking why he'd do that sort of thing, and how un-professional it is.

I know that Smobo frequents here, so if you're reading this Smobo, could you possibly tell me why you accused me of this? Especially since I never said this in my LIFE, had no proof, and just blatantly accused me of this? Sorry to clog the thread with this, Steam won't let me add him because he removed me (lol)

Axiomatic has info that's loosely based on the truth, but still wrong. All of the things he said in that one post, you had info on. Note that Axio knows everything you knew, since you didn't really have a lot of access but I remember discussing those topics with you. Plus, you've got him added, and I know from your time as an admin that you sympathized with his cause more than most people do. Now that you're trying your little butt off trying to be as edgy as possible to spite the staff, it doesn't take a genius to realize you've been feeding Axio questionably accurate information.

That's not proof. But I don't need proof to make a light-hearted forum post about it. Fast forward about 10 minutes and i literally have a chatlog of you admitting to leaking admin info to Axiomatic. ETF2L would've banned you for that. I got exactly what I wanted to see. Maybe it wasn't the most professional thing to do, but neither is sharing sensitive info from your ex-coworkers(co-volunteers?). Kind of a double standard of you to expect me to be professional while you act like a little brat throwing a tantrum.

I don't know what got into you, 'cause when you were an admin, you were overzealous and deleted posts, threads, and handed out bans and infractions more easily than any other admin. A few months later, you're being as edgy as possible and saying shit you would've banned yourself for back then. You just make sarcastic forum posts, insult people, and disrespect the league. Do yourself a favor and stop, because you're only hurting yourself.

Just about 70 UGC players were Vac'd today. I don't think that's ever
happened in the history of UGC.
I'm highly skeptical that all or even most of those players were actually
cheating as normally 15 getting caught by either VAC or by the League
itself over the course of a season (12 weeks) is considered a high amount.

12 players we're VAC'd today. not 70.

source: we save every single Steam ID that uses our site and check them nightly for new VAC bans.

#232 My FPS config in Customization
DanceNumberinfinitycme(c:) > program files(x86) > steam > steamapps > common > Team Fortress 2 > tf > cfg
I've beet putting autoexec in ...>common>Team Fortress 2>tf>custom>Configuration>cfg since steampipe. Am I doing it wrong?

no yours is correct. what cme posted is wrong and is similar to how it used to be pre-steampipe.

it's not wrong, but it's still dumb. No reason to use those files when they would work just fine in custom, and the custom ones get priority.

#6 Any worthwhile mobile games? in Other Games

I love playing emulators on my android phone with this controller. It's not as good as a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller, but it worked fine for every game I wanted to play on mobile.

Besides that, my most played games are a Minesweeper clone and Game Dev Story

#56 ESEA Allowing medigun pickups? in TF2 General Discussion
flame?

in the current state of the game you have no opportunity to get your uber back.

if I had 0% and the enemy had ~30-60% the risk/reward of taking a 0% uber fight into them would be phenomenal as now I could make a play from behind and come out vastly on top with the enemy dead medics 60% gun.

if their medic went down, the remaining players would just sack your med super hard so theirs would spawn first, and they could grab the charged gun. And every other play where you try to get their medigun would result in your medic getting focused super hard. You'd have to play so far back that you'd probably lose 8-10 seconds of building by the time you actually reached the 60% uber gun. It pretty much only works if you kill their medic and actually take and hold the ground in a whole team fight, and doing that without uber usually favors the defender, making it a bad play without some big advantage.

this is way too hypothetical for my tastes but hopefully what i mean makes sense. basically meds are going to get focused so hard that the new meta would reward passive combo play

#22 Is 'Placebo' Bad? in Customization

I feel like placebo and preference are being used interchangably in this thread.

4812622DanceNumberReally an interesting question. Can they really be called placebo if you know that they are not doing anything? I thought a placebo had to have the guise of being an actual effective product/method. That said, I don't think anything I do is placebo in tf2. If it's not something that's proven it's not worth my time.
No. Placebos still have an effect, even when you know. http://healthland.time.com/2010/12/27/placebos-work-even-if-you-know-theyre-fake-but-how/

#565 PC Build Thread in Hardware
Khoum@Setsul
I'm going to be building a computer with this partslist, but I have a question. What exactly does this mean?: Some Intel Z87 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs.

Do I have to worry about this or should I be fine?

Z87 chipsets predate the i5-4690k he linked, which means the motherboard is not guaranteed to work with the CPU. However, I have not heard of a case where this caused a problem, and i can't think of a good reason why it would.
