I'm rly weirded out by these portugal criticisms lol. Are we watching the same games? Criticize a lack of close passes in the offense. Criticize a lack of coordination between the midfield and ronaldo (in the first games). Criticize a lack of adaptation to the opponent (before the previous game). But the defense has been rock solid except for the hungary game.
Portugal's good defense was the reason they choked Croatia so hard.

Well you said they were lucky to advance, which really, they weren't, Ronaldo just played extremely well that game.

I'm not saying the group stage was an outstanding performance at all. I'm very aware that a draw against Austria is not a good result for Portugal. But I'm really glad that they played the way they did in the last game even though it was boring for almost 2 hours because it means they got their tactics together as opposed to the group stage. Defense was rock solid and at least once there was a true combination where good positioning, and Ronaldo's and Sanches' individual skills worked together and this gives me hope that Portugal will continue this kind of play in the upcoming rounds.

Group stage was def dodgy for Portugal but I do believe that they outclassed iceland and austria on the field in all aspects of the game except the one that matters most, scoring goals.
I also still believe that hungary played stronger than Croatia overall so far. Thus I contest your notion that Portugal doesn't deserve to be in the quarters over Croatia.

Your arguments make no sense. When Portugal scores or wins a game you comment how lucky they got. When someone comments how unlucky they were to concede unpredictable reflect goals you comment "If you have a lot of attempts but still dont manage to win games, it's not lack of luck i'm sorry". But Croatia's loss apparently was due to bad luck according to you.

Your argument is just as smart as saying "If your opponents have a lot of attempts and you manage not to lose game, it's not luck, I'm sorry". By your own logic Portugal played a superior game against croatia.

Portugal hasnt not managed to win any games. They won one just yesterday and went undefeated throughout the group stage. Croatia didn't and Croatia lost. Deal with it.

How does that make it lucky? It was a well-executed counterattack over the whole field, that's like the opposite of a luck shot. Sanchez did great prep, Ronaldo hit a good shot and Quaresma was there at the right time. It was good coordination. It's not like the ball was in Croatia's area and someone just hit a random shot.

Portugal always had more goal chances than any other team in all the first games and still didn't score, often due to unorganized play. This time there was a plan to shut down croatia and they went through with it successfully.
