#28 Loose Cannon in TF2 General Discussion

Stock grenades:
- No falloff; roughly 100 damage whenever you hit a direct
- Can make temporary hotspots for zoning purposes with rollers
- Can use for long range spam at places people are likely to be standing
- Effective against sentries
- Bad for close range combat because of self damage

Stock stickies:
- Special falloff mechanics
- Incredibly powerful as a damage dealing weapon
- Can make traps, incredible zoning potential
- Pissant at close range unless you dedicate all your attention to kiting your enemy into breadcrumbs

Loose canon (status quo; after the charge length shortening)
- Cannot be used for long range spam
- Capable of dealing higher burst damage than grenades, but need to be primed
- Lower donking DPS the closer your target is to you due to charge mechanics
- No necessary self damage at close range combat, but lower damage per hit
- Faster
- Can use rollers but nowhere near as effectively because of damage reduction
- Hueg

The way I see it the loose canon is a more appropriate sidearm to the stock sticky launcher than grenades, but it's significantly more iffy in the ways that it can be used effectively. The ways that it can be better than grenades in all have little tradeoffs attached to them.

#32 Soldier frag video demo call. in TF2 General Discussion
interstellarpineappledo you care if it's an stv demo

I don't want to speak for kirby but stv demos actually hide lag for projectile weapons because they're not lag compensated

#102 Suspended for being a bystander to cyberbullying in Off Topic

6th grade
my music teacher told me at the start of class not to touch my recorder's cleaner because I was fidgeting with it out of excited boredom
in the middle of class we're gonna have to use the recorders so i get excited and somehow bump into it so that it fucking slides out of its case and ricochets off the desk across the classroom
i get sent to the attendance office because they deal with detentions
the attendance secretary asks me what I did and I say that I accidentally made my recorder cleaner fly across the room
she sends me into another room and calls my mom to tell them i'm going to be out-of-school suspended for throwing a *knife* across the room
a bunch of argumentative bullshit happens between administrators that have no idea what they're talking about and my parents took me out of school because of that

#11 koth_warmfront in Map Discussion

- Sniper sightlines are "literally" broken. Right now the only way for a medic to get into spawn from yard is through a sightline, the far left entrance when facing mid.
- There's no health on mid. Removing the cliff health is good thing, but you should mimic viaduct (pro) and put another pill next to the point, I'd say where the lunchboxes on mid are on coldfront.
- Wall rocketjumps and stickyjumps through the connectors are overpowered because they go so tall, like you can just make two jumps across the whole map in a straight line.
- The right side of the indoors near spawn is broken, make it like warmfront where you can just walk up a ramp onto the platform in there.
- This is less concrete than the other stuff, but pushing through the far left connector to mid feels like a really bad idea, just for what it's worth.

Worst case scenario you can always pick up a proper stereo-mono mixer/connector for the audio jack.

#12 4Plug in Customization

What is this magic, how did it detect that my HUD with no plugin metadata was a HUD?

Also, windows thinks it's an installer and goes WAIT WHAT HAPPENED when I close it the first time.

#15 Is it bad... in TF2 General Discussion
suikatbh there is not much of a difference between .033 and .0152 for hitscan.

Also: http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/11394-interp-lerp-other-stuff

going to 0.033 improves hitreg DRAMATICALLY better on servers with very much jitter.

#46 Just Another Hacker in TF2 General Discussion
wonderlandkirbywhat is "chams"?chameleon skins. they glow through walls. they're better than wallhacks because the walls still appear normally (so the hacker doesn't do something stupid like shoot a wall, usually at the corner cause they couldn't see it)

just to be precise about it I want to note that this is usually a form of mathack

mid on a hill
something tall with ways beside it dividing hill from a yard
connectors between hill-yard and spawn-yard
spawn-yard (2nd in this case)
spawn

just like viaduct and lakeside and every other good-ish comp koth map ever!!!

#26 Linux in Off Topic

I get a frame of input lag on TF2 in windows no matter what I do, and the window manager drops every other frame that gets rendered for some reason (probably bad monitor sync), so I need 120fps to look like 60 and 240 to avoid most of the input lag. On linux, I have neither of those problems. Totally unrelated, I also don't have the problems with mingw's team being incompetent at creating a reasonable distribution mechanism (zipball pls) and people who port stuff from linux making it forward-incompatible unless you fix all the broken dependencies yourself.

#16 ESEA Client in TF2 General Discussion

Like, it creates an enormous gamebreaking unfair advantage in CS games, and there's no reason to specialize TF2 to not be affected by the ban.

#59 Warsow greenlit in Other Games

Depends on what the devs need to do to make it steam compatible. Technically that means nothing for a barebones release, but I'm confident that warsow's devs would be doing steamworks integration since they have an account system and everything already.
