Yo guys, need some help.
my pc should easily run games like bf3 or assassin´s creed 4 on recommended settings, but i lag like i had a wooden pc. My fps in tf2 is fine so i doubt it´s the processor. I think it´s either the Graphics card or my mainboard but who am i to know?
My System
CPU
Intel Core i7 3770K ivy bridge @3.5ghz

RAM
16gb DDR3

Graphics
GTX 560 @3gig

Mainboard
ASUS p8B75-M

If you guys tell me what could tell me what´s causing the problem that´d be great.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my missing knowledge with pc´s :)!

I'd definitely get a better graphics card as the 560 is getting really outdated and it's likely the main contributor to your Fps problems especially if you're playing on higher than lowest graphic settings. I would say to get a motherboard that you can over clock your CPU on but I think it would suffice as is until it's time for a CPU + motherboard upgrade.

Your motherboard should never affect your fps? Sometimes it might be the ram but we're talking about 5 frames difference. It's your GPU, the 560 is so old is about the same as some crappy cheap desktop GPU by today's standards. If you wait a bit longer the new line of 900s from nVidia are coming out, just grab a new card from that line and you'll be fine.

delpo's right, your motherboard can't actually overclock your K CPU, but that i7 is still good enough for most things so really no need to upgrade your CPU or MB.

or you could just get a 750 ti or 760, the 700 series are really good too.

thanks for the input guys, im probably gonna end up buying a gtx 780 or something in that range. One thing that confuses me is that ive had such shit fps in those games just as the card came out and the games were fresh too, so that was the standard back then.

That isn't going to fix his fps problems as much as other upgrades would.

it's been a while since we've had new graphics cards, i'd wait for the new generation for better value (and clearance deals for current cards!) since your 560 is still capable of 1080p gaming on medium in modern games

GTX 560 isn't that bad, it's roughly equivalent to a 750, slightly worse perhaps. Maybe your card is dodgy, or something else is contributing. Post full specs. You're not using the integrated gpu are you..? Anyway the 9xx series comes out in like a month so wait until then to upgrade.

Sounds to me like there's something wrong with it. Try checking temps/clock speeds while playing a game and look for anomalies.

the GTX 650Ti should be comparable to your card

1080p on low settings looks pretty playable.

my googling says they're going to release high end GTX 900 cards in October sometime.

It really sounds like your GPU is overheating, could you post a log or screen from HWMonitor from while you've been playing?

I'm on a 4 year old 1 gig card... and my graphics are more than tolerable - if you're trying to run your games in "highest quality" a lot of games get *really* crappy at such settings because of how poorly optimized they are - so it may just be a symptom of the program itself. Have you tried lowering your settings a bit and seeing if you get an FPS explosion? It could also be heat as others have said - I don't own any of the games you mentioned - but it could just be a symptom of games not being made to perform well at such settings. I know Metro 2033 and it's sequel are both major instances of that rule (if you run that game on the highest settings it will perform poorly no matter what you do if you're not used to having your FPS locked at ~60).

The below only applies if you're interesting in learning how to overclock:

Worth noting that your motherboard is worth upgrading at some point. You have a B75 board for a 3770k which is the highest end consumer grade (not enthusiast) CPU from Ivybridge paired with a low-mid range motherboard. The k on the end of the CPU model name means that it has an unlocked multiplier so you can overclock it, but you can't do that on your current motherboard. The only difference between the 3770 and 3770k is the unlocked multiplier so you spent extra on the unlocked multiplier, makes sense for you to make use of it with a suitable motherboard.

CPU temps are highish but safe, you'd need a better cooler AND a better motherboard to overclock so it's not a cheap option. GPU temps are not high enough to indicate throttling, but they're not great either.

I didn't really learn anything from that, sorry. Maybe it has to do with drivers? Try getting some actual numbers about how bad your FPS is in those games.

I have the same exact build you have except I have a gtx 670 instead of the 560, and that one seems rather low specs for such a high end pc. If there was anything you should upgrade its your gfx card imo

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED

As I already told hr0 on steam, just posting in case someone else got similiar issues:
It's definitely a GPU bottleneck. Overclocking the CPU won't do anything.
Fps are still a bit on the low side for a 560, currently troubleshooting.

EDIT:
Problem found, it's a GTX 560 SBE*
*Super Bullshit Edition
There are 550 Ti/560 SE/560 versions with 3GB instead of 1GB VRAM. But instead of ~2000MHz GDDR5 it's 533MHz DDR3. Which is why I call them Bullshit Editions. The SBE doesn't stop there. It's not even a 560, it's actually a 550 Ti (GF116 instead of GF114) flashed to report as a 560. So you're only getting just above half the GPU power and it's getting choked further by the DDR3 memory.

I guess that explains why he's not even getting half the fps a 560 should get.

This is why I tell people not to buy pre-builts. K-CPU on a B series chipset mobo? Check. The most bullshittiest GPU of all times? Check. Tier 4 PSU? Check (Yes, I told him to replace that before he gets a new GPU).
