Generally speaking, IRC as a whole is dying. It's getting increasingly difficult to find quality scrims on irc at most levels of play. This is especially annoying during the offseason because most teams don't have rosters yet to add team leaders from. Like the recruitment boards here, it would be available as a resource for any div/league but with an implicit assumption that the board is primarily for ESEA 6s because ESEA doesn't have an equivalent available. ESEA does have a scrim finder built into the client but nobody uses it because of it forcing you to use their servers and requiring everyone in the scrim to have premium.
TFTV should add a scrim finding board to fix this. There are at least a few people already posting scrim threads here, so it's not like the board wouldn't see any use. It can also be marked as not visible on the sidebar by default since most people not looking for scrims won't care about those threads.

yeah I agree to this there should be a way where people can safely schedule scrims on a forum platform

most teams scrim off their friends lists nowadays it seems, but then how does anyone new meet teams? good idea, we should make it happen

I'd completely agree with a scrim forum. Finding really good scrims on irc is MUCH harder than finding bad ones. Nobody wants to scrim a bm pugscrim team running full time pyro, no matter what level you play. It's a waste of time. Especially right now in the offseason, as a lot of my tryouts for teams have been plagued by very bad scrims where nothing is learned.

definitely a good idea but in addition to this if you haven't already just add team leaders from the same division (or a little higher) if you prefer, scheduling scrims in advance is really common now. if you enjoy playing certain teams it makes everything much easier, plus less time wasted trying to find a scrim

Wouldn't hurt to try it, if people use it great, if not then it can be removed.

Stop killing irc and it will stop dying

use irc or just add people off esea/ugc, it's not that hard

coming into etf2l season 21 as a teamleader, I added every leader from s20's high teams to scrim. About half of them were still around, and half of that half said something along the lines of " we will start scrimming again when the next season is announced."
There was a thread on etf2l that said to post teamname, skill level, and who the team leader is. That got me like 8-9 more teams to play against in the off-season.
I prefer to not use irc for my scrims since I want to play good matches, against teams rather than mixes. I think a subforum like this is a good idea, hopefully we could have threads for eu scrims as well :)

There really isn't need to if you can just add people or use irc. People maybe might not read when the post was posted then it'll just cause confusion and the guy who posted has to edit.

bump, IRC is basically dead now that atf2.org is down (for good?) and this could be really useful.

Knuckles_atf2.Com is down, the irc channel still works.
That being said if atf2 stays down (I'm not sure cinq even still cares) the start of this next season would be a great time to start a tftv wide adoption of scrim.me
Edit: better yet. It would be ridiculously awesome if enigma and the creator of scrim.me worked on an in-site integration so that scrims could be found on the same website as the forums and stuff.
I honestly have no idea what the effort involved in this is- but I can only see it as a way for more visits to the site, something I'm sure enigma appreciates
