Hello friends,
As part of their christmas present, I bought someone an ipod shuffle and had the idea to load it with songs I know they'll like. I don't want to blow up my bank in itunes so I plan to turn to torrenting. I have little to no expierience with torreting so I thought what better place to grab some wisdom then TF.tv
I'd just like to know which programs are essential/you would recommend, and what sites are the best/safest. Any help is sure to spread christmas cheer. I know you torrent so help me out! Thank you all.

if you want to load songs onto an ipod what i would do is use a youtube to mp3 converter and then put it onto the ipod through itunes, at least thats what i do.

if you decide to get utorrent, I suggest you don't get the most recent version, rather go for 2.2.1.
It's the last open source version and a lot of trackers won't have the most recent client on their whitelist.
as for public websites libble.me is decent though I am sure pirate bay (via tpb or Malaysia bay) would be suitable for you
edit: i suggest you maybe don't use a youtube to mp3 converter as it is a laborious process and is really lossy and will compromise the quality of the file

the quality may be awful but it takes little to no time and is easy to do. I don't even notice the quality...

Alright, forget everything the goobers above me have said.
Here is the best way to download single songs.
Download this - http://www.facebook.com/pirateapp
320kbps quality music that downloads in seconds.
To add .mp3's onto an iPod if Apple is still disallowing drag-and-drop (like normal MP3 players allow) then download CopyTrans and it will allow you to easily add these .mp3's that were not downloaded through iTunes.
You're welcome.

i've been able to find FLAC's or 320kbps of all of my songs on thepiratebay.
on the search bar just add "320" at the end of the song.
"Hakuna Matata 320"

YouTube to mp3 converter. Only bother using this if a song you want is the only song off that album, or 2-3 songs. Also make sure the song is of good quality on YouTube.
As for whole albums, piratebay.se is pretty good with that. Just gotta make sure the uploaders are trusted, but they have icons near their names such as VIP, trusted (I think) and some others.

Bloodsire. I have given your IP to the authorities. They will find you. They will trace down that iPod and wipe every single 1 and 0 which corresponds to a piece of stolen music off of the hard drive. Then you will go to jail.
Pirating is evil. This is America not Somalia.
jk. Merry Christmas.

What's the deal with these? I haven't really looked into trackers before.

rutracker is probably the best pub tracker music wise because the majority of the music torrents are just mirrored from whatcd.
Old versions of utorrent are best

If you have a premium Pandora account ($1/mo or something), you can get Saver2. Use their player and it'll automatically capture an MP3 of every song streamed to you; there's even a turbo mode to just download an entire station. Pretty nifty.

there is, sadly, no way to check that they are transcodes (unless they attach log/cue, which is rare). because I'm a boring person, I generally check where the spectrals cut off in audacity to see whether the file is transcoded
