Definitely paddie for pocket, alle for demoman, and Raymon for medic.

I would say yomps and Freestate are tied for best flank scout. Corsa and PurpleShirt were probably the best at there respective classes, but those were so close with b4nny and -blaze & Drackk, respectively.

The scouts were all good, but they were all up and down from map to map apart from Thalash. Yomps was great too, but it seemed like every time he went big, it didn't really enable EVL to follow up on it(which might not be his fault). Freestate seemed really consistent but never went big and I thought he was ineffective when games got slower.

Overall - Raymon by a lightyear and I hope people notice it; I'm glad Showstopper and Ma3la mentioned it on the analysis desk after the grand final@

Also, the casters dwelt at length about b4nny underperforming. I took a few minutes to do the math: b4nny had a K/A/D of, from memory, 302/183/184 with 279 dpm. I know stats don't always tell the whole story and he had a few maps where he went negative, but I thought he played pretty well.

anyone else think blaze underperformed this lan? he used to be an absolute beast on lan (think i55)

Comparatively to i55, yes he was underperforming, but you have to remember that his scout partner on the flank used to be Clockwork, who could win 1v2's on the flank and make Blaze so many openings that he was able to capitalize on. Not harping on Freestate of course, he's good but he's not Clockwork.

Honorable mention: starkies spy plays were insane

Raymon was MVP of the tournament for me. Genuinely think it's the first time the best player in the world has been a medic. I think he deserves that title because of the pure impact he had, it took SO much to kill him, and he could keep people alive through the craziest shit. I mean is anyone even contesting that he was the best medic at this LAN by far? And not only that, the level of play at this LAN was probably higher than the iseries LANs of late, EVL froyo and seven were all a step above jasmine which is crazy because jasmine are such a strong team. To be the hands down best medic at the LAN with the highest level of play to date imo, you have to give the guy credit.

Also tbh i think bdonski was the best demo, bit unfortunate we didn't get to see more of him but I think he was the standout player for EVL. Alle was pretty nuts but he also had a lot more games to show it. Drackk, paddie and stark probably deserve MVPs for the other classs, I would say yomps over stark but again he didn't have as many games to show he could do what stark did.

roamer : drackk : he turned tides often and saved his team more than any other playe

demo : bdonski because he's able to play with the lord of the heals and still do well
medic : raymon because he has good mechanics of course

now are these players the all time mvps of tf2? Not for me.

Pocket - Paddie played very well, so did rando but he could have been better
Roamer - Garbuglio for him just getting on a top team pretty recently his performece was amazing
Combo Scout - B4nny not his best but still overall the beat combo scout this lan in my opinion
Flank Scout - Freestate won so many 1v1 against scouts you wouldn't think he would beat and just fragged overall
Offclasser - Stark best playmaker at lan with yomps behind him

Great Lan, didn't get to watch live but watched the vods and had fun anyway

It's really great to see AMS finally on a team where he can show everyone the talent he has, he fucking pounded this LAN and hopefully it was worth the 2 years playing with ondkaja 4Head

He got 300 dpm on a 0-0 snoozefest which seems like a cheat code. Even he couldn't explain it.

Overall I think he was very up and down - between good games and REALLY good games. Streaky if you want to use that term.

Not really breaking down anything in categories here, but just things that stood out in my mind:

I've always said the European medics are fucking awful. I was never impressed by any of them, but holy shit, I was incredibly impressed by Raymon. I don't think there's any question that Raymon is the best medic in the world, and it's not close to being a competition there. His positioning was very spot on (minus a few times on Sunshine, but apparently Se7en haven't played Sunshine much at all), his dodges were insane, and his arrows saved his teammates countless times.

Speaking of Se7en, I think every single player on Se7en played out of their minds this LAN, especially Alle.

Everyone on Froyo had some bad maps, but everyone else stepped up to compensate. Most notable example of this is when b4nny had some bad maps, Freestate definitely made up for everything that b4nny didn't do. Paddie had some very notable performances, too.

Even though their teams both finished in last place, Marmaduke and bl4nk played well.

Corsa meshed well with EVL despite being relatively new to the roster. Everyone on EVL played solid, but still lost to EU in the same fashion as i55. ;_;

JT was certainly going to be the wildcard, and unfortunately their two tournament days just weren't their best. They had very good bootcamp the week before, winning close to 10 maps against Se7en while only losing once or twice. It's a shame, and while Paulsen said that'll be it for JT on the international stage, we all hope to see them again.

Are you talking current EU medics, cause I hope so. When you say "always" that means you are calling Mirelin and KnOxXx awful and that is plain fucking retard mode. I am not going to argue about who "impresses" you because that is personal opinion.

Honestly, no. I don't even mean to do it, but when I spectate players / STVs, I gravitate towards medic POVs. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing a heal beam on my screen, but I check out tons of things frequently from all medics. I've always felt that medics like Harb were much more valuable in mechanical skill.

I haven't watched Knoxxx in great lengths, but I don't think he was bad or anything. However, a common point brought up to compliment Knoxxx's medic skills was that he made great calls (and people used to say the same about PYYYOUR). While I think that's a great skill, that's not a medic skill. That's an IGL skill. I respect Knoxxx's play, so my original statement was a bit of an exaggeration to emphasize how good Raymon is. Still, Raymon is fucking amazing and is definitely the best.

Mirelin was always given a massive amount of credit for surviving ridiculous situations. When I observed such situations, I think it's highly up for debate on whether it was a good escape from Mirelin or just the enemy player missing important shots.

To say that they are better than NA medics (thank you for reminding me that I'm NA) is and will always be subjective to the person's opinion, so your reply has no objective difference than my post except opinion. I like debating this kind of stuff though, so hit me up on Steam if you want.

Regardless, I don't want to derail the thread on this. Again, I just wanted to emphasize that Raymon is the best in the world and it's not close, IMO. Looking forward to seeing more from the guy.
