Do you have duct work?

When air ducts change temperature rapidly they'll "pop" quite loudly. Happens pretty regularly when temperature changes or when you're running heat in the winter and then the furnace stays off long enough for the duct work to get cold, and then when the furnace blows the hot air back in it'll pop.
