I know, i know this isn't tf2 reddit but i just get raped by soldiers in mge man they just don't miss anything especially on badlands mid they just stand,On the train and just fucking trap me there i cant get out and they just direct me all the time its so hard for me to even do anything even if i take my distance they just get me with splash from across the map its so hard to fucking dodge people tell me to be unpredictable but HOW how do i just one day wake up and be unpredictable? i just get raped by soldiers everywhere dude its just so hard to just combat that you know even if i jump around and stuff they just splash me and even if i get some good shots on them they just splash me and shotgun me :( Help please,Anything even a little bit of help would be nice.
standing on the train as solly vs a scout is GAY so just play vs friends who dont do that until youre able to compete with these gaylords
edit: also play some solly vs scout as solly with your friends. getting an idea of how your counter plays is very useful and dont consider winning to be the primary objective

mge lords, man, they'll do what they gotta do to get that oh so sweet meaningless elo
Funsjust hold s and spam them my dude
classic middie. desperate to win

Play ammomod MGE against soldiers and learn to actively dodge at close range/aim while being juggled. MGE score doesn't matter. I don't think kiting soldiers in MGE on high ground is useful practice.
Jynxiidm is way better for scouts than mge ever is
They are good for different things. MGE was very usefull for me learning how to take ubers and forcing 1v1s on flank with other scouts.

Add-up question: What is considered gay and bad practice as Scout in Scout v Solly fights?
I started doing them more recently, and I don't want to get caught in bad practice accidentally.

you're probably overthinking things. a good thing to do would be to track the ammo in his clip, baiting out rockets and only attacking him with 1-2 rockets loaded. be more deliberate with your double jump.
Back when I had problems in mge I looked at the situation in two ways. Do I want to win? Or do I want to observe how the other person is beating me, which basically shaped the way I dm people in general. In the end it is up to you how realistic you want to take these mge 1v1s. It seems like you want to be more unpredictable but if you play to where 0you're hitting all your shots you don't really have to dodge as much. I know it sounds a bit blunt but I've seen a lot of players with crazy movement but they can't hit the shots so in the end, It doesn't matter. I can't say personally how to play scout(demo main here) but as demo I play to where my movement benfits my aim if that makes sense. GL

be close but not TOO close
dont stand on highground - treat it like the floor is lava but backwards and get off once youre on
if ur DEEP in valley with 70hp or less just killbind rather than spam
know what you want to improve - focus your BRAIN into aim/move until its subconscious and do the same on the other afterwards
count ammo of the enemy - useful for a real game
play ammomod MGE for harder practice than blands mid
add people
play scout vs scout too
play as solly in the same matchup
watch this vid for a bit

kind of but you need to realise its completely different playing mge to dm. to me (mostly solly but some scout) mge is better practice and dm is better warmup not sure why just always seemed that way to me. dm clearly works for most scouts but play enough of each game mode to have a fair opinion on each and decide which is best for you - optimise practice!
another thing i forgot to say is play JUMP MAPS!!!!! very good for getting mechanics and air control which seems to be overlooked by many scouts

As a scout, the match up vs soldier is pretty homo in general
Just like the old spy vs pyro.

rare scout movement tipz

I was going to post this in the scout movement thread but I figured what I had to say was uncommon enough to warrant bringing everyone's attention to it cuz its not just the typical "jump on props and airstrafe" stuff u see in every thread. also, my ego is huge.
The trick to making scouts miss their shots is making sure you aren't changing directions at a constant interval. If youre mashing your WASD keys randomly as fast as you can, you might be be changing directions completely randomly, but chances are you're switching directions at the same interval. When you're switching directions at a consistent rate they may not know how they're going to need to move their mouse, but they are going to know when.
Constantly switching distances and your angle of movement makes you considerably harder to track. When you're moving parallel to their field of view, you appear to be moving faster than when you're moving at a diagonal. The closer you are to them, the faster you move from one side of the screen to the other. Obviously, you're still moving at the same speed in terms of the game, but from the perspective of someone trying to aim at a point on a 2d plane, you're constantly changing speed which makes you more difficult to track.
One of the biggest aspects to improving your scout vs soldier DM is understanding how to move in a way that puts the difference in reload/fire rate between you and your enemy in your favor. For example, if he shoots a rocket at you, you're going to know much longer its going to be until he can fire the next one. By putting yourself in the air as soon as he's ready to fire his next shot, you're forcing him make a decision between going for a risky direct and waiting for you to land for an easier shot. This is really useful when he's at low health and you know that if you jump you can kill him before you land. Someone else made a thread about countering scouts, so here's what I wrote to him so you can get the other perspective.
A lot of soldier vs scout comes down to knowing what sort of shots to go for based on how long it'll take him to kill you and how much ammo you have in your clip. For example, If you're at low health and you have a full HP scout on your ass smashing their space bar, your best best might be to take a risk and try to get damage out as quickly as possible even if it means going for an airshot. If you have high HP then you can afford to wait for the scout to land for an easier shot because it'll take more time for him to kill you.
From what I've noticed, soldiers tend to misplace the distance of their rockets more often than aiming too far to the left or right so constantly changing your distance from soldiers is really important. It also messes with their sense of your speed just like it does when you're fighting a scout. When a soldier is trying to aim at a spot on the ground, the further away the spot is the smaller it is on his screen. This effect is amplified the lower he is from the spot, and the opposite happens for when he's above it. From the soldier's point of view, they ideally want to fire a rocket when you're close to them because its easier to aim at ground that's close and there's less rocket travel time to account for. You can take advantage of this by moving forward right before he's able to fire another rocket and moving backwards right as he should be ready to fire it. If you do this correctly, He'll either aim too close to himself, miss, and potentially take self-damage, or he'll have to spend more time aiming his shot at a point that is more difficult for him to hint.

best practice is neither of you on highground for too long and neither stands inside each other or just spams from long range
as far as improving movement, remember the soldier's gonna wait for you to use your double jump before shooting his next rocket so try delay it to make him think you're gonna hit the ground then jump. also remember you can airstrafe to make it pretty hard to hit directs on you when you land, but it makes aiming harder since you can't track them for too long

1: mge players need to feed their elo for ego
2: do as the other guy said; play with friends so you dont get strated bc that's what mge is about (even Dave_ told me)
3: don't play maps that are not ammomod/viaduct/blands mid if you are going to scout
4: dont feel bad for losing in mge. Your average mge player spends 23 hrs 55 m a day on the mge server with a gibus on farming their shotgun on scouts and soldiers to air deny them. They are left with 5 minutes a day to shit, sleep and eat but if they see an afk player then they use those 5 minutes to farm their elo off an afk player and yet they still are esea open players or etf2l mid with the most gigantic ego ever because they beat you with 5 ping(looking at you Brünnhilde).

no ones going to be able to really tell you how to do it in a forum post because its just 'feeling' you develop, as in youre not even consciously thinking and its working more than it used to. i guess its just being able to anticipate where theyre going to shoot the rocket and reacting ahead of time, but don't think youre not going to get hit because any good soldier is going to hit you no matter how 'unpredictable' you are, and its about using that rocket to fight him or some shit.
but thats all bullshit because i don't think you can put it into words. theres lots of things you can do and ways you can take the matchup. you can just never jump and be as effective as someone just spamming space bar, for example. whats most important is that you hit everything though, vs any level of soldier on any map. its all about who kills who first, obviously, and depending where you spawn and where they are, the class who has the advantage to kill faster easier changes, so does your approach to the fight.
the way i learned was just throw myself at soldiers in ammomod until i unconsciously worked out how to do it. i picked ammomod as a place to learn because its the hardest place to play it (soldiers have a huge advantage), youre only going to have soldiers join, unlike viaduct/bad mid etc which means theres no stupid crying over who is playing what class, there's no way for you to hide or play gay so youre always playing correctly, youre going to always be juggled and hit because of how easy it is for the soldier to do it, so youre always getting used to being thrown in the air and learn ways to deal with it etc.
its also really easy on the ego, if thats an issue with you, because its never embarrassing losing vs a soldier on that map, but kind of impressive and shit. like if i had below 70 ping constant and lost there i'd be embarrassed. its so one sided that i can hold my own vs IM/invite scouts that are much better than me on 130-150 ping, but any other map i'd be lucky if i got 10 with that ping vs those same scouts. so you've really got nothing to lose, not like you do anyway.
but thats just how i learned. even from just playing that map, i'm confident vs soldiers in any scenario i guess because of how general and difficult it is.
you can just run at soldiers on top of trains for ages and if you try enough things and don't miss you'll just work out what the right shit to do is, which is a combination of a lot of shit. playing in europe, thats all youre going to get, because regular MGE EU people don't really get soldier v scout for some reason. they would much rather play soldier v soldier viaduct mid or soldier v soldier gran last cause theyre idiots i guess. even though sitting on the train is the least productive and easiest thing to do, 90 percent of public MGE EU soldiers are gonna do it cause they know nothing else. but yeah, if you play properly you'll get it eventually.
watch better scouts. b4nny streams this matchup everyday vs ppl trying their hardest to embarass him. you can see how to deal with that, and soldiers in general just by watching that, and its gonna be better insight than anyone in this thread can give.
