WhipWandumafaik rcadia started doing major restructuring internally pretty much right after we were there in november and wont be doing more events for the forseeable future
ah, that's unfortunate, I hope that the great folks involved in organising the november lan are keeping a relationship open with the venue
dannythe only LAN event they've hosted in 2023 was the smash bros tournament, which was moved to a different location for unknown reasons (most likely to do with energy prices in germany sky-rocketing).
for what its worth, the very first talks about the first rcadia tournament started in april of last year, but now they know the drill they could put together a lan much quicker, so if they get their shit together i see no reason for there to not be a lan later in the year. last i heard they were pretty happy with the overall turnout and attendance from the previous one, so who knows
Appreciate the kind words but in all likelyhood there won't be another LAN at the RCADIA. Not only in 2023 but probably ever.
We (Phoenix Red) are always open for opportunities to fill the november slot, but nothing is imminent for 2023 atm.
We have been approached - especially during the RCADIA LAN last november - by many members of the community whether we would be interested in taking over the summer slot. Again, we are appreciative of the support, but despite everything we wouldn't mess or compete with insomnia (and essentials.tf as the current host, for that matter) due to its deep roots. Should they shoot themselves in the foot or there be no more traction for a TF2 event at the festival, it can be an intriguing option to look for something to fill the void in 2024.
That being said, we would also not touch and save insomnia if essentials were ever to withdraw from organising.
Personally, I think it is a massive mistake of Player1 Events to move the event to another date. Either their business decision is a bad one or they were indeed too late to book the weekend, which is outright embarrassing imo.
My desire to go there was low to begin with and now has dropped to almost zero.

Unfortunately, LaSource (where we did the last French LAN) is now closed for ever.
We looked for another venue in France, but we found nothing that could handle more than 30 people.
Next TF2 LAN will probably not be in France

At this time we are looking into what changes we can bring with i71 when we meet with Player1 Events soon. We believe that TF2 will still have a significant presence at i71 regardless and we plan on making an event happen there even if the scale or format changes. It's completely normal for nothing to be confirmed at this time as the Easter event has only just finished yesterday.
For the community and based on feedback that has been raised recently, we would like to obtain some changes that improve the affordability for players and we will pursue those.
Despite a lack of alternative options to Insomnia being readily available to the community, we know that without any changes to Insomnia's cost basis for players that it will severely affect attendance.
If any players, especially top-level players, want to relay any feedback you have, absolutely feel free to get in touch with us on Discord.

thats sad but im still not convinced enough to go to iseries, pay up to 600€ for a trip to a LAN where a guy next to you plays witcher 3 and screams about getting a 1v2 in csgo while paying 8 Pounds for a shot of vodka mixed with orange juice hell nah

surely if the concern with hosting a summer RCADIA event is that it would be too competitive with iseries, it is very possible to get people to boycott iseries for rcadia (as many are already doing) and host a summer event in hamburg
im sure many players / casters / producers etc would much rather prefer going to germany than birmingham
and would it not be possible to just partner up with essentials.tf because we all want the exact same thing, which is to have an enjoyable (and affordable) lan experience and imo rcadia provides for that significantly more than iseries

i really do hope we find an alternative to insomnia, the pricing of even just food is too much. I think in future tf2 lans should move away from the UK as well, since its more of a hassle for majority of the EU player base than anything else, flights can be p expensive during august/september

I'll be going to DreamHack Summer as staff to run the LAN Tournament Stage and my company will be providing admins for the BYOC tournaments, hoping to have a chat with our floor manager to get TF2 added to the Winter schedule.

Just to keep everybody in the loop RCADIA have still not paid out prize winnings to the top teams. Wonder if they ever will.
This is absolutely nothing to do with Phoenix red; DCS is the best and has never stole money from the TF2 community.

Discord.
Honestly my flight tickets to and from birmingham alone were more expensive than my entire weekend at rcadia, including alcohol. Lowering ticket prices would be nice but it feels like the event itself is cursed as long as it remains in birmingham.

we organize a LAN event with polish/czech/slovak community in Łódź (Poland) called PoLANd.tf in July 21-23 but we didn't announce ourselves publicly because we already are booked out completely atm
if the July LAN works out we may do another one in winter which could be a nice RCADIA replacement as prices are cheap as hell (300 PLN / 65 EUR for a seat with 240 hz monitor, pc, headset, keyboard and mouse + super cheap sleeping options, alcohol cheap as fuck), this time with an announcement
edit: 90 seats in the venue

We're currently finalising some details with Insomnia that we hope will give players a great discount on attending i71.
Stay tuned for a new thread very soon.

most likely, we asked the venue owner numerous times (last time yesterday) if they can provide a VPN service, so it could be covered by tftv, but we are still waiting

Any possibility of a show of hands to how many people would maybe show up?
Personally, even though it is ridiculously expensive and I know its far worse for people outside of the UK, I would very much like an excuse to see people again and have a good time as this will likely be our only opportunity this year (apart from you guys going to the poland LAN, massive kudos to the guys organising that)
