Lot of information like social media accounts, friend lists, game reviews, full names, addresses all may all be technically "publicly available," but that doesn’t mean it's appropriate to dig into any of it.
You're not coming off as a cool detective or uncovering some big mystery. Nobody will ever find this type of behavior attractive or witty, no matter what the reason behind it is.
Don't get me wrong, it's fine enough to research a person or just be curious. But trying to win affection - or an online argument - with creepy behavior has exactly the opposite effect.
