So about twice a day, I will no longer be able to "view server info" of a friend, connect to any tf2 server (I get "connection failed after 4 tries"), and I can't connect to mumble servers, or even see how many people are in the channel.
It is seemingly random, and the strangest part for me, is my internet appears to be working fine. I can browse the internet, chat w/ people on steam, and only resetting my router seems to fix it. And even then, it happens again after not too long.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Or more importantly, how to fix it?

probably 1 of 2 situations you're experiencing, you may have blocked the program in windows firewall or another 3rd party firewall in which case you need to add tf2/mumble to exceptions so they are allowed to access the internet, or your antivirus see's some operations as a threat, most good antivirus software has something called gamermode which turns off the av while you play your games, just make sure to re-enable it when you exit your game.

Okay I made sure that mumble and steam are allowed through my firewall, hopefully that works. Unfortunately it always seems random when I can and can't connect to servers, so there won't really be a way for me to tell unless it doesn't happen for a few days.

I made sure it was allowed through my firewall, and it didn't make a difference. I'm going to make sure I have 'gamermode' enabled in my antivirus. Does anyone have any other ideas of what the problem is or potential fixes?

Had the same problem with Netgear router while using wireless. Changed to wired connection and everything is fine.
At randomthe server browser would not return any servers - things usually got back to normal after restarting the router or waiting 5-10 minutes.
No idea what's cousing this, lived with it for years.

I can't find any sort of gamermode in my anti-virus program, and I made sure that it was allowing steam and mumble access to internet.
I'm going to try to switch away from wireless, but if that doesn't happen, any other possible solutions?

I had this same problem. I figured out it was due to the wireless adapter I was using. I had a wired connection into that adapter, but it would still do this. The only solution I found was plugging my computer directly into our router, but this of course shut off the wireless.
I've heard that nicer wireless adapters don't have this problem, but I'm not sure which ones.

I get this problem quite often. No idea what causes it. I've never used wireless and I have exceptions in my firewall.

It's never been a problem for me before, with wireless or wired. I'm in a new apartment and I think we have a new isp, so I suppose that would be it? I honestly have no clue...

Also, if I can't seem to connect to anything, sometimes connecting to a server from an outside link (i.e. clicking on the jumpiT server connect links on natf2.com) seem to work on occasion.

Another strange thing I noticed, is that once I'm in the server, everything is fine. I can reconnect to it without problem, I don't have any problems while I'm in it. Just a couple times a day I can't connect to servers (or, it takes me 5 minutes of trying to connect to it over and over before it works).
