very sad to hear that the meta ruined badlands. so many good matches were played on that map
Reckoner instead. People like to circlejerk that it's bad because it's new, but if you genuinely got rid of the hias from previous editions, it's a solid map.
I also don't understand the hate for Logjam.
Badlands Last Sybdrome is a disease.
Optimize Clearcut.

turn badlands last into logjam last and it’s a yes from me
also replace villa with coalplant. why the fuck did we stop playing that map

ScrewBvilla and propaganda bad >:(
propaganda is not a bad map at all. villa is awkward because it introduces new ideas.

I don't understand people. So many people wanted to play without scout speed on medic, and the main result of this was that mid fights mattered more. It was easier to kill a medic, and then roll to the enemy last if you were the better teamfight team.
Badlands (or any map) being hard to push out of last has the exact same effect. If you are attacking a last that is difficult to push out of, then you can take more risks attacking (see examples bear listed in his post such as double sac or trading ubers), since if the strategy fails, you have a natural safety buffer given by the map. Therefore, mid fights matter more, since you are (generally) on the enemy last if you win mid.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of maps that are hard to push out of last from (snakewater/badlands/gully/metalworks), since you can do crazy shit when attacking. I don't see many other teams fully use strategies based on the map to their fullest potential. Most of the time it's just sniper angles, sticky traps, soldier jumps and hiding spots that need to be learned. Noone uses a crazy strat that the maps allow you to use.
tl:dr it's not the maps fault people play like pussies.

you are not wrong as long as people play for fun spectacle nba style, but the way the gamemode works does not encourage the better team to push constantly. If you win midfights consistently(=better team/dm), but fail some last pushes for example, you are rewarded for sitting on enemy 2nd on your round advantage. Hell if you are winning you could even get a sentry and sniper on enemy 2nd and annoy the shit out of your opponent.
I don't remember if there has been experiments with a different win condition more similar to basket.
Also at the league level currently rounds scored hardly matter (i think they do to break ties on the tables?). If you could figure out a way to give out points for the regular win plus the rounds scored, or round difference, maybe it would encourage pushing more.
