Here's a new KNHud with the wings if you want it
you forgot to load it at the bottom of clientres
also, is there some retarded obvious option i'm missing, because my crosshair has been fucked up for years now. the default crosshair never changes anymore depending on my weapon, and now after installing KN hud i can't see it at all
plz halp
in console:
cl_crosshair_file ""
crosshair 1
the crosshair called default in the options actually isn't the default its just dull coloured scout wings.

#31 has it
default crosshair =/= the "none" crosshair
also apparently pat_micmip 2 which makes the textures all shitty changes how the crosshairs look, they get a bit more bold in picmip 2 as far as I know

a similar effect can be created with hud crosshairs

did you put hud_reloadscheme in console after changing stuff?
also, you have to restart your game for changes in clientscheme.res to take effect

is there any way to get the crosshair perfectly centred at 1680x1050? Mines a couple of pixels off which is really bugging me :/

I messed around a bit since the crosshair being off center bothered me too. I was able to make it as centered as possible by changing the "text alignment" from "center" to "west" and then changing the x/ypos to move it back to the center. I checked to make sure that realigning the crosshair actually moved it by adding the default wings again. In short, changing text alignment to west and then moving it over worked for me at 1920x1080.
Before trying west I tried east and it somehow deleted the right wing of the crosshair. Not sure if this is a resolution thing or if that always happens but if changing the alignment to west doesn't work then I'd encourage people to try east.
On top of this, for people who would like the crosshair to be a bit more bold, it is also possible to have multiple konrwing crosshairs aligned to east (not sure if east works though), west, and center creating a more bold crosshair by taking advantage of the fact that they don't align perfectly on top of each other (it still might be a few pixels off center because of the use of the off center-centered text alignment).
If anyone wants I could probably post screenshots of this when I get a chance.

that's what I intended the crosshair to look like when I initially setup all the font/hud files. it's supposed to have the "none" crosshair overlap to make the sides a little more bold, and give the soldier crosshair those little prongs. if you use my settings I'm not sure how it'll look if you use it on a different resolution than 1024x768, it'll probably be a little off centered.
That looks amazing. Props to you

This is centered for me at 1920x1080. I do not know what centers the crosshair with the east text alignment, but if you would like to overlay a couple of these crosshairs to make it more bold then the default konrwing works because it is a bit too far to the left at this resolution.
Edit: Changed the color back to white.

If you are getting a Z instead of the crosshair you may have missed this step.
Open up tf/resource and check if there's a file called Garm3nFont.ttf is there, if there is delete it.
Download yz50/clockwork's version of the garm3nhud font from here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/49007794/Garm3nFont.ttf
You may have also made a mistake in the first two copy and paste steps that had to do with fonts. Messed up fonts and unknown crosshair files are probably the issue.

The instructions aren't entirely clear. The text has to go in specific places in the clientscheme res file and the hudlayout res file. Just anywhere in it won't do. I put it under something to do with "fonts" and it worked out for me, though it doesn't seem like you can ever get it perfectly centered. And part of me thinks the crosshair isn't 100% symmetrical but maybe I'm overanalyzing.

How do you make this work with my Broesel Crosshair switcher?

BanaynayHow do you make this work with my Broesel Crosshair switcher?
this is a hud crosshair, broesel's crosshair switcher changes the tf2 in-game crosshair. in other words, if you want to switch between hud crosshairs you'd need to use an achievement tracker switcher or use minmode. if you want to use this in conjunction with your broesel crosshair switcher then just install the hud crosshair as previously specified.

read chriztahfah's post, if you're aligning your crosshair east that apparently happens. if you're on a mac read my post on the first page of the hud. one of those should fix your crosshair, I doubt the font issues are related, I'd try reinstalling your hud.

GeknaiirAlso if you run at a 1920 x 1080 resolution and you don't want to play on like a size 45 "" crosshair, you should change the tall value in clientscheme.res to 12.5. Then you can just edit the crosshair values in the scripts to center it. You can finally play with yz50's size 32 "" xhair with minor centering issues(a couple pixels sticking out).
Any way you could tell me how to do that with 1440 x 900?
