Is bashing on UGC really serving any purpose? The league certainly has it's problems but for a lot of people it's still fun competition and a good starting point for competitive tf2, which is why it has been expanding rapidly.
I could be wrong, but from my perspective trolling UGC admins at every opportunity is not good for the tf2 community. Or maybe I just don't know what they did to warrant this treatment?
Also, if UGC is so terrible what are our alternatives? ESEA is only 6's and is pay to play(as far as I can tell from the awkward web design).
Not really talking about the forum topic anymore(which really is about 1 player getting VAC banned I geuss?), but it just seems like there are an enormous number of negative posts about UGC and I don't really see why.

Yeah, bashing UGC is revenge for all the stupid shenanigans they've pulled (admins being assholes, disparaging top ESEA players, banning people because they are too good at tf2, etc.). AND NOW THIS!

If you're going to do something like keep on an admin after he's been VAC banned, you can't be sneaky about it. You can't delete threads. You've got to stand up, be counted and say "I'm keeping this person on because 'x', it's my decision, end of discussion", and then take all the criticism you receive (even on your own forum) entirely on the chin. That way people can either hate you or agree with you. All they're doing now is alienating everyone with common sense. If they said "hey he cheated and got VAC banned, but hes an ace admin so we're keeping him on", I'd personally be quite comfortable with that.

Well, the one that deleted the threads was apparently moose. And when infinite saw it was moose he got all the remove-y powers taken away, along with league powers. Apparently they're waiting for the head admin to get back from a business trip to make the final decisions on whether or not to keep moose on.

Wow, all the UGC admins are retarded. i guess its ok to hack as long as you put in work for the community. What a joke, get HL into CEVO and move leagues.

As DJC said if it was an accidental ban it would have been reversed by now, I know of a few people (one a high profile Aus admin) who were vac banned, claimed innocence but accepted their fate, and were unbanned within 48 hours.
As for openplugin, none of you are silly we all know Valve would not choose one or two select high profile admins from various communities and ban them to make a point (especially without a public not about it), it would be all or nothing - and like most community admins I tested its capabilities when it was released and don't have a pending vac ban.
As for the actual fov scripts and pic maps settings server operators can lock out the relevant cvars, moreover the altered ones, as much as they like.
When we decided the fov changer would not be allowed in ozfortress competitions it was locked down, anyone who connects to our servers with the cvars set out of range gets a warning message, and shortly there after kicked, maybe this is something UGC can look into - doesn't stop you from connecting to any other servers, just don't do it on ours thanks.
Either way I thoroughly disapprove of innocent until proven guilty with VAC bans, if you get vacced and the ban stands with Valve I don't see any recourse regardless of community stature, at least within our own community. To allow such things would be to open the floodgates to users claiming they got hacked and all sorts of shit to cover up being a shit cunt who needs hacks to in most cases still be average at the game.
That's my opinion on it anyway

i'm just wondering, did all those CoD players that got VAC banned for playing in those hacked servers ever get unbanned?

I agree with greaver about the policy, but seriously can everyone hold off on the blatant UGC hate until we finish season 9? Only a couple of weeks guys and then you can make a forum thread called "UGC Admins are worse than the devil" where you may say whatever your hate inspires. Meanwhile there are a bunch of people who want to win a season hosted by said admins... so please show a tiny bit of courtesy.

If you're talking about the 10,000+ players who were accidentally banned, then if I remember correctly, their bans were reversed.

I hear the steam employees that are supposed to deal with this are on vacation.
Might be awhile before his ban actually gets reviewed by someone in the company that knows what's up.

it sounds like youre implying that we should stop calling them out on their bullshit because they may use it against us
that is a silly thing to say, if they did that it would be even sillier

the fact of the matter is still that people who use openplugin dont get VAC-banned

I'm not making a judgement on whether or not it's open plugin that got him banned or not, I'm just saying that all the people that are saying it should have been resolved by now if it wasn't a legit ban should hold on for a bit.

idk if the vac-team is part of Valve, its only Valve employees that went on vacation, not everyone that works with Steam.
but yeah, i see what you mean.

yes, that makes perfect sense with everything we know about how VALVe is run -- that they would let ALL of the people who are "supposed to deal with this" on vacation at the same time...
come on.

as far as i have been able to tell, there are no other high tier EU players (many of whom use OpenPlugin) who have received VAC bans.
in fact, as far as i have been able to tell there are no other known comp players who have received VAC bans for OpenPlugin use as part of this wave.

#315 True. I sent a mail to a couple Valve employees a week ago and they said they were out for like 3 weeks.

It should be noted that I'm not speaking directly as an admin here since I'm not active in the day to day goings on of UGC anymore:
These things take time.
A. Moose was a trusted community member who nobody really wanted to believe was a cheater - especially people who worked with him for a long period of time.
B. Forn isn't around right now - and these sorts of decisions can't just be made by other admins - in much the same way as any other enterprise with a leadership structure would have to do (at least one with an executive).
C. I should note that Moose currently has no active positions in regards to UGC, and hasn't been online in 2 days so he's already either alted up and is creating an alternative identity or is donezo for the time being.
D. In relation to the forum moderation complaints - that is being reviewed and changed so as to promote a more pleasing and consistent posting environment.

I know is that there's a company retreat. When the retreat is over, if moose gets anything back I would assume he'd say something like 'nope still vacd' or 'i'm under review right now' or something. idk. Maybe he won't say anything. No one knows but him right?
All I know for sure is that if there's going to be a definitive word to moose or that community leader it's going to take a little bit. It's nothing to rustle your jimmies over. Just a waiting period.
lol, you'd think i was saying open plugin was the reason he got vacd and he'll for sure get unbanned from the way you're coming at that bit of information. XD
