what if like 4 or 5 people had the password, these people would be well trusted, then people could contact them to upload their videos, i feel like it would turn into a shitfest if everyone had the pw. youtube might even ban the account if it gets logged into from so many locations.

I'd imagine most people who produce content want their videos on their channel, so I don't see this happening.

The problem with trusting certain people with the password is that those people would most likely be already involved in other things (Lange, truk, etc. comes to mind, as they are the more trusted members of the community). Adding to their workload just seems...off.

Is there a way to group youtube channels together? I can't remember.

What ehFk says is pretty true, but it can be hard to attract views on good content if you dont have a lot of subs or other big videos. YT Rankings and all that. It took a lot for the CommFT channel to get where it is now (60k Subs and 12 million video views O_o ) and we'd love to help other channels in the community get more attention.

The paybacks we can offer are limited, and I admit sometimes it's a hassle to get us to upload for you. Luc and I have access, and Duder has been told the PW in the past but hasn't really uploaded for us before. Luc is more available and can post videos whenever. The main condition of getting your video on on the CommFT channel is that the clip must be copyright-free, utilizing music in which the artists are not opposed to their use in this way as long as they are cited.

We want commercials on all our videos, and it's a hassle for us to remember/track which videos we shouldn't be claiming because they used Daft Punk. There is also a major liability issue. We don't want copyright strikes.

We are not currently profit sharing from our Ad revenue as even with a healthy percentage going towards the editor, the amount we are earning doesn't justify the amount of effort it would take to split everything monthly for each contributing editor. Would love to automate it and rev-share with all of our editors in the future, but it just doesn't make sense currently./

I am proud to declare that our ad revenue is going towards the goal of supporting Luc and making him a full time employee, as well as generally supporting eXtv's efforts and our ability to have a positive impact on the community. If we host a tournament, our capability to offer prize funding is dependent upon our ad revenue.

eXtv is suspending our travel spending for a while and we don't have any pressing equipment costs. As much as I wanted to think of a better gift, my wife is probably buying me a 4TB eXternal drive, that will be very helpful for eXtv stuff. We'd like to spend money on renting a studio in the future, so that we can restart eXtravision even better than it was before. Until then, eXtv is just spending our ad revenue on our webserver and Luc.

TL/DR: CommFT would love to post your Video on our 60k subscriber channel in order to help your channel get more eXposure. Any music used needs to be copyright-free so we can commercialize it after citing the artist.

I don't see one youtube channel panning out, but I feel like people who already have subscribers encouraging others to subscribe to other TF2 youtube channels would be our best bet. The best example I can think of is the Newgrounds circlejerk (OneyNG, Psychicpebbles, Stamper, El Cid, Egoraptor, etc.) on youtube do a great job of giving each other exposure by all liking and favoriting each other's videos and telling people to subscribe to them on their homepage.

Basically, just make our youtube channels really community oriented. We've been doing this already with streams.

I think something like this would be better. Having a central place for everyone's channels is just like how tftv is a central place for everyone's stream.

^ that too. They just use it for the stream archives, TF.tv isn't doing any post-produced stuff on there AFAIK.

We'll be formally/more aggressively looking for more editors soon, but are also accepting applications all the time, hit us up at those e-mails listed above.

If anything, I consider it a quality filter if it's difficult for most people to get their vids seen. Amazing ones will naturally get shared.

I wasn't thinking for commercial use, most people don't have any intention of making money off their channels, and upload maybe one video a month. Just a generic channel for everyone to upload to, the only requirement to get the pass would be to actually have videos on your channel and not be a well-known troll. We could have a group of people who had the password, and simply have them contact someone on it. It doesn't require any of the community superstars to work on it, it doesn't take any special skill or ability to upload videos for people. And since most people encode their videos down to <100MB files, sharing them to a person who has the pass wouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm thinking ~50 people with the password, not 5, so that it wouldn't be too much of a burden.

If you don't have a power structure for the channel, what's the point of building it up as a distribution network? At any moment any of those 50 people could permanently fuck up the YouTube channel and destroy all the work done.

Of course there would be a power structure, I'm just suggesting a much more open environment. There would be a large number of people, not a huge number, but enough that no one person would be overworked by it. I'm thinking people who the community knows can be trusted, not necessarily current prominent members, but just people who have been around for a while.
