mastercomsWhat version were you using before? Also, I have heard reports of the latest TF2 update causing performance issues for some people, so it may also be that. See if you can revert to your last version and see if the issues still come up.
I was on 9.4.0 before, which I just rolled back to and the game feels a tad smoother, but still not as smooth as it was before. I guess it might be the update as you said then

Is mastercomfig going to optimize bots (through the tf_bot cvars), or will it just leave bots alone?

has anyone found a fix to the mat_monitorgamma resetting when you alt tab if you have fullscreen optimizations disabled? i know enabeling fixes it, but it makes my tf2 run worse

my autoexec refuses to exec on launch, and edits i make to any of my cfgs dont actually change anything in game, even when i manually exec them
i have all of them in the cfg/user folder as well as duplicates in the cfg folder

Can you send me a download link to your config? I'll be able to help you out easier.

You should probably mention on your recommended launch options that the -hushsteam command whilst preventing your IP from being registered on local servers, also prevents access to the item servers on them. Just for clarity sake.

I didn't mean to post that to the recommended launch options! I thought I removed it from there, but thank you catching this, it's removed now!

On low preset, ubers look like this for me atleast: https://imgur.com/a/fcmaDXe
Anyway to change those blocks to be smoother without affecting shadows ect.

What are your TF2 mods?
Pirateer5Hi, posting here to see if there's a potential fix or if anyone has similar issues. My TF2 performance decreases the longer I play, and dramatically decreases after several maps to the point where recordings from OBS are noticeably laggier and less crisp than my first couple of maps.
Do you have ragdolls=hidden set?
Pirateer5I've tried lots of things like verifying game cache, disabling/enabling fullscreen optimization, disabling/enabling hardware acceleration, clearing standby memory after each map, CCleaner to remove unnecessary drive files, keeping background programs and overlays to a minimum (no overalys at all), CPU and GPU temp stable and low (below 50c). I only have Windows Explorer, TF2, Malware Bytes/Bitdefender, OBS, RTX Voice, Flux, and MSI Afterburner open when I play.
- You don't need cleaner or antivirus software; it's easy to dodge malware and protection from the OS is more than enough. They are usually just bloatware.
- Reduce the amount of (mostly heavy-resource) software used while playing TF2.

Is there a reason why my tf2 settings get reset sometimes? I try to change my in-game resolution in the video tab but the changes don't save when i relaunch. Many commands and binds won't save unless i hit "Ok" after I change each individual bind or setting. Technically yes I could just go through the long process of setting everything individually and adding width and height to the launch options but i'd like the problem to just be fixed so that i won't have to worry about it coming back in the future

TF2 is likely overriding some stuff through its config.cfg file. Just make it an empty file and set read-only.
Do check your config(s) though, as it may also cause problems if script code isn't written correctly.

Exactly the same problem. In my case, this is very noticeable when i am streaming and playing competitive.
I thought the problem was in the competitive. But sometimes it happens in public too.
Sometimes "record 1; stop" helps, but only sometimes. I can't even get close to understanding the logic of the problem
Sorry for bad english

goughave you disabled steam cloud? my tf2 settings would never save until I disabled it.
yes and i've left the config.cfg file in the steam cloud folder in userdata blank (not deleted) and read-only. Sometimes tf2 settings just randomly turn off when i turned them on last time. the resolution thing was fixed by removing dxlevel commands from launch options, but not the settings stuff

Pirateer5...
This is a long shot but I'm mentioning it since its about the only thing I can think of that you haven't mentioned in your post.
In your power settings, do you have your power plan set to AMD Ryzen High Performance?
For clarity's sake, it should look like this:

MoermanI have exactly the same issue. Especially in combo with a recording software. Havent found a fix for it yet, but It doesnt sound like a cfg issue to me rn.
Do you guys use OBS and do you use Nvidia NVENC? I played for several maps today whilst only recording using ingame demos, and it wasn't nearly as bad as it usually is (with OBS recordings + tabbing out to change recording filenames). Wondering if changing to CPU-based encoding might work better or if you guys are already using CPU encoding and it's still bad? That's the only possible thing I can think of at the moment, really frustrating problem and hoping for any sort of fix
Nvidia NVENC + OBS
Have you tried playing competitive without OBS ? In my case, lags are present even without obs
I tried to delete the game completely and play with the default version. Got better. Possibly hud?
